We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley D. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The funny thing is….I didn’t. God did. Back in February 2015, God laid it upon my heart to give my virginity to my husband…and I agreed. I began ACTIVELY saving myself for marriage. I thought it would just be my journey, my testimony, something that I decided to do; but apparently He had other plans. It became more apparent, beginning in 2020, that this walk wasn’t just going to be for me, but that I would have to bring others along– encouraging them to join me on this journey of saving ourselves for marriage. So now, I am in the beginning stages of mentoring and counseling teenage girls and young women through the process of being Chaste By Choice.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe what sets me apart from others is that I also focus on vaginal health. Sounds weird, right? Why would a virgin who’s promoting and encouraging young ladies to save themselves for marriage talk about vaginal health. The answer is simple, we have to live with our lady parts. Yes, eventually someone else would have access to that area (after marriage, of course), but he isn’t responsible for the upkeep of his new best friend…we are. We have to deal with the pain, discomfort, possible odor, etc. that comes from not taking proper care of our lady parts, not him. So the time to start focusing on and taking care of all of that stuff is not when you finally get man or get married. IT’S NOW. While you’re single, and it’s just you and God. Esther (from the Bible) went through a whole year’s worth of beauty treatments and body care before she was brought to her king and made the queen of his world, and she was a virgin. So why shouldn’t we do the same? Physical pleasure and life itself flow through this area, you want to make sure you’re able to enjoy it when the time comes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am generally a homebody. Curled up under a cozy blanket watching a good movie or tv show is one of my favorite things to do. But, every now and then I get the exploration bug. I love to go to random places and just look around; whether it’s window shopping, sightseeing, or hopping in and out of different restaurants to see how good their food is…mostly the latter. I’m a bit of a foodie. A restaurant that I really enjoy is Silom Thai & Sushi out in Buckhead Atlanta. Eventually I’m going to try something new when I go back, but I usually get either the Silom Snapper or the Thai Fried Rice…or sometimes both. Another favorite is That Burger Spot #2. I really enjoy their black bean burger and lemon pepper fries. The thing that I really love about them is that they have so many options. You can get your burger any way you want, it’s totally customizable. It’s not an eat in establishment, so you’ll have to take your order to go. The most recent new place I’ve been was Grand Lux Cafe out in Phipps Plaza. My spiritual mother treated me to a meal there for my birthday and it was DELICIOUS. I’m not a carrot lover, but they have glazed rainbow carrots there that’ll make you change your mind. And please be sure to try their cucumber lemonade. It sounds odd, but trust me, you won’t regret it. I’m trying to watch my weight, so I didn’t do too much, but the next time I go will be a whole different story. lol I’ve only been back in Georgia for a little over 2 years now, so there’s still so much of the city that I haven’t seen. All I know is that I need to keep gas in the car and money in my wallet just in case the explorer bug decides to bite me again, Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shoutout my mother, Tonja L. Davis (of T. Lyn Compositions, LLC and The Daughter’s Place, Inc.), for helping me to come to terms–on what feels like a daily basis–with the path that God has chosen for my life. Your encouragement, advice, wisdom and work ethic inspire me to be a better woman and to grow in God.
