We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Culmer, MS, CCC-SLP and we’ve shared our conversation below.
What should our readers know about your business?
Well Spoken Speech Therapy is an outpatient therapy clinic specializing in communication and feeding disorders in children. It’s located in Sandy Springs and serves families from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. This practice serves children in schools, homes, the clinic and in virtual settings. The idea of starting my own practice started back in high school. My youngest brother attended speech therapy for years due to his diagnosis of autism. It sparked my interest and has always been a dream of mine. Never taking my mind off that dream, I was able to start this journey and I’m blessed to see it grow more and more by the day. I truly believe this journey has been great because it’s part of my purpose and I have an amazing support team behind me. The children really enjoy themselves and I’ve established amazing relationships with the families.
Recently, I relocated to a new office space, and I’ve hired my first therapist. It gets a bit overwhelming at times, but it’s exciting. Along the way, I’ve learned that even during the rough patches, I must stay on course because everything will work itself out the way that it should. I want the world to know that you never have to settle. If it’s in your heart……make it your reality.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a chill and relaxed kind of girl but love getting into the city especially when the weather is nice. Anyone visiting the ATL needs to visit the Beltline. I love to get out there to walk and/or ride scooters or bikes. There are several restaurants nearby to checkout and the people are nice. I enjoy relaxing at the Chattahoochee and checking out hiking trails. The rooftop at Ponce City Market is always a good time. I also love a good concert, festival or Braves game.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My biggest Shoutout goes to my wonderful parents, Janet and Alonzo Culmer II. These two have raised me to be the wonderful woman I am today. I could never downplay the hard work, love, sacrifices and support they have given me over the years. They continue to acknowledge and honor my gifts and have always encouraged me to go after my dreams. To all of my closest friends and family…..thank you for your love, support and encouragement over the years.
