Meet Ashleigh Worthington | Chef & Food Blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashleigh Worthington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashleigh, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue a career in the culinary arts because it offers boundless opportunities for creativity and self-expression. In a world governed by numerous rules, cooking allows me to transcend limitations and convey my identity through my creations, without the need for words. This profession not only fuels my passion but also enables me to connect with others on a profound level.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I entered this profession during a very dark time in my life, and I thank God every day for freeing me from that place. Food played a significant role in my healing journey, providing me with a sense of joy and peace that is truly indescribable. It wasn’t an easy road—nothing in life worth having ever is—but embracing humility and being willing to admit that I didn’t have all the answers helped me grow.
I’ve learned that success is built on consistency and a commitment to learning something new about your craft every single day. For me, cooking is more than just a profession; it’s a form of expression and a way to connect with others.
The Peculiar Chef is not just about me. It’s about creating a safe, welcoming space for those who feel “weird” or “different.” To those individuals, I say: That’s more than okay! Why strive to be normal when you can embrace who you truly are? Be proud of your uniqueness, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I were hosting my best friend in Atlanta, we would definitely catch a Hawks or Atlanta United game—such exciting energy there! I’d also take them to my favorite cheesesteak spot near Piedmont Park, “Woody’s Cheesesteaks.” It’s a must-try! We’d explore the Beltline, Krog Street Market, and Ponce City Market, which are incredible for their vibrant atmosphere and unbelievable food options. To round out the experience, we’d head down Buford Highway to dive into its amazing foodie scene—it’s truly a gem for diverse culinary experiences.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to God, my wife Aquilla, and my grandma Mary. God has taught me so much, but most importantly, He has instilled in me patience and gratitude. My wife and grandma have loved me unconditionally—not just as a person but as a creative—since day one. They have pushed me far beyond what I thought I was capable of, and for that, I am forever grateful.
