We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashleigh Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashleigh, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important thing my business/career has taught me is to never give up! You have to make sacrifices to get to where you want to be in like ! You have to want success more than anything because at the end of the day your career is what you make it! Your business is what you make it so good hard for it like you have nothing left.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from most bakers/culinary artist is my creative eye. I put so many creative pieces and designs on my cakes that represents a high end elegant/Classy look that most people wouldn’t believe it’s edible! Also while being a baker in this industry it makes me super proud to say that I worked so hard to get to where I am today as far as taste wise and creativity wise . Getting to where I am today it wasn’t as easy, I took so many losses that made me stronger and more humble . I overcame these obstacles by not ever giving up! I kept pushing myself , I kept trying new things . Giving out sample and kept promoting to the fullest. While learning a lot I’ve learned to always CHARGE YOUR WORTH! Never down play yourself . Set boundaries for your business be confident in your talent keep going never give up . Lastly what I want people to learn from my story is to never give up , everything you do is a process to something great you just have to keep going be patient because at the end of the day your supporters, family and friends will have your back to motivate you to do more. You have to believe in yourself, you have to want to be great for yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being from Detroit , To show my best friend a great time I would take her Downtown . We would go visit the art museum, walk down Monroe street to look at some great restaurants and try different food trucks. The first place I would take her is to Sweet Waters ! Hands down the best chicken to me , Most definitely have to hit the Cinnabon truck, my favorite. Lastly we would go by the water and walk/talk , you know maybe ride the scooters Then sit down and reflect, taking that Canada is across the water it’s very pretty , especially at night the reflection off the water is beautiful.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! I would like to dedicate a shout out to a amazing Woman Ms. Ellen Jordan . She was a cheer coach of mines since gone 9th grade. She pushed she so hard with my baking ! Always kept me going and bringing me support. I honestly wouldn’t be where I am now today without her .
