We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashante Rosier-Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashante, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
By the end of my career, I would like to have a law firm that employs a team of capable individuals and is ultimately running without much effort needed from me. I don’t feel that I need to have the largest firm or make the most money to make the impact I desire to make. I want to continue to be able to make my services accessible to and affordable small business owners in the community that I come from and ensure they are protecting their brands and companies properly at all stages of of their business’s life.
I also have a vision of starting and operating a free/discounted small business clinic where budding business owners are able to receive much needed business services – including trademark and patent services – even though they may not be in a place to pay full price for those services.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Rosier Law Group, LLC is a virtual boutique law firm dedicated to serving small business owners and entrepreneurs with their intellectual property and business law needs. We work closely with our clients to provide them with the comprehensive legal support they need throughout the growth of their businesses.
Our mission is to empower minority-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs with the knowledge about what counts as intellectual property, assist them in the protection of their intellectual property, and provide them with the tools to protect their businesses as they grow. I am so proud of being in a position to assist my community in this way and I love being able to share this knowledge with those who need it.
At the firm, we offer a wide range of intellectual property, business law, and transactional law services including federal trademark registration, contract review, drafting, negotiation, entity formation, and legal consultation. Our law practice provides its clients with quality and efficient legal advice in order to adequately prepare each client to succeed within one of their greatest assets — their business. At Rosier Law Group, we are as committed to providing high-quality services as we are dedicated to educating our clients so that they can thrive in their respective industries.
It has not been an easy journey, but starting a business is almost never the easiest path. There are always going to be challenges when attempting to scale your business, but being able to overcome those challenges will usually be a mix of trial and error and learning from the lessons of a mentor (if you have one)!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am fairly new to exploring the city again since moving back in 2019 and of course with COVID, I was not able to explore much in the last two years. However, when my friends and I do decide to make a weekend itinerary of events it almost certainly includes choosing a new restaurant to try (usually in Midtown or Buckhead) and then trying out a new place that we have seen on Tik Tok.
With so many new places opening up around the city what seems like every day, it is hard to have a favorite place! I am currently partial to Ponce City Market since it has music, games, drinks, and shopping. For me it is a one stop shop for me get a little bit of everything in one place.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I certainly would not be where I am today without the help and encouragement of several people. First, of course, is my mom, Evelyn Rosier. There has never been a time in my life that my mom was not my #1 supporter. She has also been willing to do whatever she needed to help me achieve my goals.
Second would be a group of individuals who have been by my side since I was in law school – Heather Pinckney, Brandi Harden, Adam Hunter, and Stephanie Johnson. I worked for them at their respective firms for two out of my three years in law school and the experience I had with them was pivotal for me in terms of learning what I wanted my legal career to look like and cultivating the skills it took to be a good lawyer and business owner.
Last, but not least, is my current mentor Dayna Thomas. She is someone that I look up to in many aspects and she has been so helpful in my journey to becoming a trademark attorney and determining what services my firm will offer. She is never stingy about sharing the wealth of knowledge she has amassed over her legal career and I am so thankful for her contribution to my journey.
