We had the good fortune of connecting with Asada Jenkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Asada, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ive had horrible breakouts since I was 11 years old , my skin would be so inflamed I didn’t even want to go to school . As I got older the acne never really stopped it just got worse and showed up in different amounts , but once I got pregnant with my son it got really bad ,I became completely fed up! I knew there had to be something I can do naturally . I just started remembering how my mom would soak Cerasee bush in water and make me use it as a toner , she was using old remedies from the West Indies past on by her Ancestors to heal my skin . Having such a strong Jamaican back ground , I made sure to incorporate these remedies because I know they work , I am a living testimonial . When I created Annubia Beauty’s Holistic Skin care i wanted to build a clean honest brand that focuses on skin care but I also wanted to emphasize on how much your lifestyle can effect your skin . I’ve always had an obsession with skin health and beauty , I wanted people to know that there are plant based skin care options that work and that they are not alone in this battle . I also grew up in a strict holistic plant based household so I was very familiar with many different herbs and ways to help heal the skin but I had to put my knowledge to work i began testing out different oils , herbs ,fruit extracts on my skin . I spent 10 months trying to find solutions for my skin issues , around this time i was pregnant with my son , my skin was very sensitive . I had to do some true digging to find the best ingredients that work , it was a lot of trial and error but so with it . This made me become obsessed, i couldn’t stop researching plant oils and herbs that would help my hormonal acne , hyperpigmentation and dry patches . Once I found the ingredients I wanted to work with I began to formulate. I made sure my ingredients were non toxic and one hundred percent natural , because I believe your products should not cause health issues down the line . I also wanted to make it very clear to my audience that skincare isn’t enough and you have to have a healthy lifestyle because healthy skin truly starts from with in . Annubia beauty is a Holistic Skin care brand so we make it our business to focus on Mind , Body and soul . All in all , I’m grateful for my journey because if I didn’t have horrible acne the way I did, I wouldn’t have made Annubia Beauty and be able to help so many women and men and children today .

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets Annubia beauty apart from other brands is our honesty and transparency when it comes to ingredients. We make sure we do the right thing on our end so we have gained the trust of our Customers by doing so .

How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?

I have always dreamed of having my own beauty line but I had no experience or knowledge on how to start . I worked for my sister feminine health business for 5 years , she also works in the holistic field so I soaked up so much knowledge on herbs and eventually was able to explain the use of all the herbs to our clients so well I realized I enjoyed it so much because I knew I was changing lives . Working for her help me learn a lot about business and marketing aswell but I continued to study my niche and learn more and more every day. There was so many challenges starting out like not having enough funds to start , self doubt but couldnt let that stop me. I realized I had to keep looking at the big picture and It pushed me through because I knew I could help so many people . I’m also a self taught make up artist as-well so this I why I focus so much on products that improve texture and naturally brighten the skin . The goal is have to wear less make up but just enhance your natural beauty because you now have a natural flawless glow to show off .

The major lessons I have learned through all of this is to never give up because failing is only a opportunity to learn . I also learned that it’s more about the Journey of who I’m becoming then the destination . I learned to focus on self development and the success mindset, these two things have propelled my business so much.

What I want the world to know about my brand story ?

I want the world to know that Annubia Beauty is for everyone , women , man and child . Ingredients are safe for whole house hold . We make our products fresh in small batches, to ensure you get the best quality every time . I am very passionate about holistic beauty, I make sure I put so much love and intention in each product . They do exactly what they are intended to , no short cuts or blind sides , just pure natural ingredients from Mother Nature working together to heal the skin inside and out . Sounds simple but it’s truly an art and we have mastered it .

I’m also a true testimonial of my products , they have literally changed my life and boosted my confidence . I have very sensitive skin so I have suffered from acne , dark spots and dull skin for a very long time. This made very insecure about my skin and I would wear so much make up to cover my acne and it would just make it worse every time . I wasn’t in-love with my natural image I knew that was a problem . I realized this wasn’t healthy , I should be able to have no make up on and feel beautiful in my skin with acne or no acne ! Make up was just a bandaid , but no solution . This is one if main reasons I don’t buy the whole perfect skin idealism these other big names brands push. I believe healthy skin in far more important then perfect skin . Most of us will turn to chemical skin care in desperation but I want the masses to know there is another way and you don’t have to deal with the negative side effects like hyper sensitive skin , burns ect . I don’t believe my skin care should do more harm then good !

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live here between Miami and Broward , I love our private beaches , we have great vegan Carribean food.

Hope Gardens kitchen has the best vegan food in Miami !

Jamaica house is little fiery restaurant that never closes , yes open 24/7
I love it’s because it also has an Exotic fruit juice and coconut water truck outside called Island Kaboom they have the best seamoss , natural juice , coconut jelly , Liche , exotic fruit like June plum , soursap , sweet sap , jack fruit , passion fruit the list goes on . There is also a Jamaican spot named coconuts fusion cafe , they have pretty good flavor .

Awash Ethiopian restaurant is another one of my faves . So good !

South beach is always a nice get away .

I like going on nature walks trails , we have over 12 in south Florida . My favorite is the Everglades .

My Partner has been such an important support for me during this journey . He has been there since the beginning of Annubia beauty , he is a very driven business man and has truly been my back bone . He has encouraged me , helped invest in my business and my success mind set. From dropping off orders to hunting down ingredients and being my own person motivational speaker , I truly couldn’t do this with out him. I also have to give my 2 year son his credit as-well, if it wasn’t for I don’t think I would’ve went all in on my dream the way I did . Having him gave me a stronger WHY to go even further and take the risk to make it all happen .
