We had the good fortune of connecting with Article and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Article, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ive always wanted to own my own. I really believe in generational wealth and having resources to pass down to my children and their children so they would not have to start from scratch. A cheat code to life if you will.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand is The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Ive always believed in giving your all to whatever you do or believe in. The term “Be Extraordinary embodies just that. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen derived from a 2003 action/fantasy film that goes on an adventure with a diverse group of superheroes with very unique and impressive abilities. At the time this group reminded me of how unique and impressive my crew was. Safe to say the name stuck. Fast forward, in attempt to make the brand more visible I would have shirts made so that when we perform people would better identify who we were and become more familiar with the brand. Thats when people would start asking how they could get a shirt and ultimately what spawned the birth of the clothing brand. It has been a road full of difficulty, rejection, you name it, and still is. But its a journey full of fulfillment. What keeps us going is knowing that only WE can stop US.

What sets us apart is that we embody being the best versions of ourselves and inspiring others to do the same. Its an uplifting concept that any person of any color, profession, or walk of life can gravitate to. We strive for that upper echelon top shelf way of life. Its not for everyone, but it can be for anyone who is willing to put the work in on every level.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well in these times its mostly take out but within a weeks time for food I would do Chops, Tuk Tuk, Juci Jerk and find a new black owned spot I have never been to. Might cook also. As far as entertainment, I would look for a comedy show, Peters Street, Little Five points, Painted Pin, a rooftop party somewhere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God first and foremost for the natural abilities and opportunities I’ve been blessed with. It takes a village so I definitely want to shout out my parents for planting the seed of confidence early on and exposing me to the arts and entrepreneurship. Also a huge shoutout to my older brothers for introducing me to hip hop and allowing me to tag along with them to the studio and shows to further cultivate my love for music. Last but not least, I want to thank my wife for fueling and supporting my dreams to the fullest.
