We had the good fortune of connecting with Artavia Norman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Artavia, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
For me, the bad habits actually ended up helping me succeed. This is due to that those bad habits ended up being lessons that I corrected and thus turned into a success. Here a few of my bad habits that gave me the biggest lessons.
#1 Money Management- Bad money management caused me not to be prepared for the necessities caused by natural disasters like COVID, the ability to keep supplies stocked efficiently, ability to pay bills on time and more. Those bad habits would cause my business to receive bad reviews. That later caused a large volume of cancellations.
#2 Constructive Criticism-This was both a life and business lesson. When it came to customers giving feedback I took it as criticism. This didn’t fair me well as I would get an attitude, not reply graciously to the feedback or reflect on what was said. It sometimes would roll over into my personal life as I would take it out on family and/or friends.
#3 Eating habits -This is one of my biggies. I would eat whenever I wanted and it would definitely effect my attitude and energy. When working the last thing on your mind is food. When food finally comes we look for something quick, greasy , and unhealthy! That later would cause me to be tired and lazy. That caused a major effect on the quality of my work. Bad work bad reviews. No bookings no money.
Those above are just a few that have played a part in my success. Correcting my spending habits I’m now always prepared especially for the unexpected. For constructive criticism, I learned to take feedback and turn them into constructive criticism. This allowed me to strengthen in various areas. Lastly, my eating habits and daily routines. With changing them, I now have more energy to focus and be more more productive. “You are what you eat” is a mindset I try to have when it comes to eating clean and having healthy daily habits.

My Mother. If there was anyone that believed in me was my Mother. When I had the idea of investing in my career my Mother was my #1 supporter. Also, my beauty team has been a blessing as they believed in and wanted to be apart of KOB journey. Most important, God!! None of this life and business I have been blessed with would be possible if it weren’t for him.
