We had the good fortune of connecting with Artavia Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Artavia, how do you think about risk?
12 years ago I decided to take a risk / step out on faith and move to a bigger city with better opportunities. By taking the risk I gave myself permission to try things out, to learn, to fail, to grow and to explore. With me having 2 two year olds at the time I faced my fears , leaped out on faith, I was able test my limits and go beyond what I believed was possible. I literally went after the life I wanted to create for myself and my family and as of today I am still knocking back goals. Aside of styling/ hair styling I also mentor, I Own 2 successful businesses , I am an author and I am now a realestate agent . Talk about taking risk, The Sky Is The Limit!!!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
August 1 , 2020 will make me a 10 year business owner . Owing a business is never easy . People see the rewards but never see the sweat, tears and sleepless nights. I recommend you to write a plan , stick to it and work on it every single day !!! I am very big on vision boards and journal writing. If you speak things into existence they will appear ( law of attraction) . Protect your space and pray over your business/ ideas daily . Make sure it’s something that you really want to do . Don’t get all caught up in the money . I think one of the major reasons why I’ve been so successful is because I actually love what I do . I love to help people, I love to make people beautiful, and I love helping women of all feel confident. If you do what you love , it won’t feel like a job . I’ve learned to never give up. Just because a vision didn’t go as planned doesn’t mean that there isn’t something else . Make your network your net-worth. All it takes is 1 opportunity to change your entire life for the better . Always be a student. Never think that you know everything, when you think you know everything people will not want to help and share information that can help your business . Don’t get discouraged, there are so many businesses doing the same thing but that’s ok, there’s enough for everyone. Last but not least – Market/ Market/ Market You Are Responsible for your Own Success No one can Market your Brand better than you!!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When people come to Atlanta I like them to get the Atlanta experience. I am from a small town where we didn’t really have a lot of places to go. I like to make itineraries for my friends/ family when they visit . More than likely they will start off at the salon with me (lol) I’m never not working, besides why not get pampered while you visit . The next day we will most definitely hit up a nice brunch spot. Somewhere midtown , with endless mimosas so that we can people watch and talk about goals amongst each other . I like to take them to different parts / neighborhoods so that they can learn the culture . I love referring people to the Civil Rights Museum , Madam CJ Walkers Museum, HBCU’s , Tyler Perry’s Studios and anything else that has a wide range of encouragement. I like to let them get every taste of Atlanta to leave them a worth while experience.
