We had the good fortune of connecting with Arsenio Watlington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arsenio, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born and raised in the US Virgin Islands. Island life is truly different in many different aspects; I have been surrounded by a strong community my whole life. Specifically; my family and friends. I grew up watching my parents and siblings consistently work hard at their goals. It was their top tier work ethic that inspired and shaped the work ethic that I have today. Another difference that being from a small islands offered is a stronger sense of curiosity for the outside world. Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to travel and experience a lot as a kid to the point where there are too many to count. As fate would have it, most of these trips and experiences has been surrounded by baseball.; I was taught the beautiful game of baseball at a very young age growing up in the virgin islands and it has been with me ever since.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Nexup Baseball is a one stop shop for producing and marketing the culture of baseball. We have a content team that consist of drone operators, videographers, photographers, editors, music producers, and graphic designers. Our unique processes and functions allow us to create and provide original content with very fast turnaround times. Nexup has been able to create its own small community and strong team of various talents that allow us to showcase our love and passion for the game of baseball through the way we use our point of view to document and deliver our product.
When I reflect on the past few years, I find myself most proud of the growth of our team partners and the business. To see where and how we started to where we are now, it is pretty amazing and I am excited for all of the future projects and new partnerships that are on the horizon. My success business wise came with embracing the unknown of the business world; understanding that the learning never stops and dedicating myself to honing my craft. Its definitely not easy, but if you truly love something or someone you figure it out. I think that is what I do . One of my biggest take aways so far is “use what you have”, to lean on your God- Given strengths when your back is against the wall and let the work speak for itself.
Nexup Baseball is here to stay.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone had a friend visiting, I would suggest attending some baseball games, for sure. Georgia Tech has a beautiful baseball field with the city as the back drop; It is always amazing down there. Of course, you have to take them to the braves stadium and the battery is always a good time. I would then suggest going out to lawrenceville, the place where I graduated from college for its relaxing atmosphere. And if you’re feeling adventurous you should take them for a walk/run at stone mountain.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
