We had the good fortune of connecting with Arlinda McIntosh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Arlinda, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
After being married then unexpectedly becoming a single parent in my mid-twenties, I was faced with the challenge of finding the means to immediately finance my newly single-parent household, so, I can’t really say that I actually chose this as a particular career, I’d rather say that I tried something as a necessity that came naturally to me which was creating and sewing and I just continued on that road until I reached Sofistafunk 30+ years later.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m proud of the fact that I never allowed myself to give up because failure is always an option BUT it’s just not in my repertoire of things to consider. Life itself is not easy so certainly maintaining the business side of business is difficult BUT Tenacity is what has kept me consistent. I’d like for the world to know that Sofistafunk is designed for simply for those of us who like to play dress-up for real. Periodt

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
OMG there’s been so many winds beneath my wings I’m afraid that if I start naming names I’ll mistakenly forget someone and lawd knows I don’t want to do that but I’d Love to Thank Kendra Lendsey for recommending me to you. To all of you who’ve Loved and believed in me as I’ve grown my brand over these last 30+ years.
