Meet Arlaysia Bell: Attorney & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Arlaysia Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Arlaysia, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Yes, I started my firm with the intention of helping the growing community of small businesses and entrepreneurs by making legal advice from an experienced attorney accessible, and providing counsel and support on a range of business matters from corporate structure, contracts, to intellectual property. Bell Legal & Consulting Firm takes a personal approach to understanding the needs of entrepreneurs, startups, and small businesses and providing expertise without charging big firm rates

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Founding Attorney of Bell Legal & Consulting Firm, a corporate law firm specializing in startups and intellectual property. I started my firm after practicing for five years as in-house counsel and associate in a law firm. I love my journey and the knowledge I gained working with amazing companies. I knew in law school that I ultimately wanted to build something of my own that would always challenge me and allow me to make a difference. I was able to take years of transactional law experience working in corporations managing multi million dollar contracts and commercial real estate deals and bring that to small businesses and startups that may not otherwise have access to legal resources. I think that’s what sets my firm apart from others. I want my clients’ businesses to succeed as much as I want my own business to succeed and I’m able to bring my experience working with big corporations and offer it to startups and small businesses. Having been someone who was afraid to take the leap and start my own company even when everything along the way has been preparing me and pointing me in this direction, I understand entrepreneurship and what it means to run a small business. Since opening my firm it has only been successful and given me the opportunity to do what I love. I look forward to continuing to educate and pour into other entrepreneurs and startups.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having lived in Atlanta for over ten years now and attended Spelman College, and Emory Law School, I feel like I have a personal relationship with the city and love taking family and friends to some of my favorite local spots. The first place would be the Atlanta Beltline. There’s so much to do and see on the Beltline. You can go for a stroll and end up at a great brunch spot, or at Ponce City Market for ice cream, shopping or wine tasting. It’s exciting because I remember when the Beltline’s eastside trail was still in developmental stages back when I was fresh out of law school and working in the Atlanta Beltline Inc.’s legal department. At some point during the week we would have to visit the High Museum with its rotating art exhibits and live jazz nights. There’s also the Georgia aquarium which is across the street from the Children’s Museum of Atlanta where I worked part time while in college. If it’s football or soccer season we would catch a Falcons game or Atlanta United match at the new Mercedes Benz stadium or to the Battery and Truist Park for a Braves game.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my dad, who recently passed away, and who always pushed me and planted little seeds for success. And my mother for whom I get my strength and my desire to help others. In addition to my family, I dedicate this shoutout to my friends who over the years became more like family, my law school professor, attorneys and judges who I admired, worked for and became my mentors.
