We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel G. Chen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariel G., is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Throughout the years, since 2017, I’ve had many successes growing as a solopreneur. Each day I acknowledged small and big wins and cherish each of them as a career highlight. The idea of continuing the journey is a big success in itself. Consistency is key! A major responsibility we have is to continue sharing our craft so our community, friends, the family see how we elevate year after year in business and personally. Every day I strive to find the importance to successfully grant strategic business control in The Crafted Chen, customer care satisfaction, and source quality home accents that people love. I’ve nurtured my craftsmanship in everything that I do with The Crafted Chen and it mostly stems from teaching myself a lot of what I know today. Also, researching the appropriate things and surrounding myself with the best fitting people adds to being successful as well. Your network is your net worth and that helps with maneuvering upward on the “success ladder”. My take on it is to find yourself always meeting new people, DM that person you find inspirational, connect with other creatives, and be authentic throughout the entirety of it all. Success will most certainly follow!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Crafted Chen is a home + lifestyle and Interior design service business that caters to both woman and men who acknowledges a quality home and beautiful lifestyle living. I remember starting my business with the idea of drawing four 20 x 20” pillows, which I described as, “soft touched velvet”, on a piece of paper that later became a pillow named after my Grandmother Gladys, and now has seven different color options to select from online. Since then we’ve tripled our pillow collections and managed to grow our home + lifestyle assortment with gorgeous glassware, doormats, candles, Gold Lip mugs, and more.

Additionally, I am a Project Manage for an amazing designer who is listed as Atlanta’s top twenty Interior Designer working 9 to 5 at ADAC Atlanta. My grit to continue being an amazing businesswoman and designer is to always evolve and grow in a way that teaches me new ways and outlooks on the industry. I always manage to acknowledge new ways to evolve my craft and it’s amazing to see what consistency, vision, and potential can do. Was it easy? Not at all but it becomes more enlightening to figure out the path in life by following what the universe is speaking on to you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my natural given talents is that I always find hidden gems with a stylish ambiance and great vibes in a city. When friends visit a quick Google search or shuffling on Instagram using city hashtags for restaurants is my go-to. Something always comes up and we end up having a beautiful time. Atlanta is a great place to explore, meet new people and enjoy what the city has to offer.

Personally, I enjoy going to places that highlight my vibes with a twist of down-to-earth aesthetics mixed with a touch of luxury. (lol) A crafted mix is what I would call it.  TRUE FOOD in Lenox Square, C & C Social House on Auburn Ave, CHICAGO Pizza in Cobb County, Bad Axe Throwing on Marrieta Blvd, or even Punch Bowl Social Atlanta are a few favorites, and if you know of some other amazing spots email me at Getintouch@thecraftedchen.com. I’d love to check them out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I firmly believe in recognizing our community, creatives, and solopreneurs by extending ourselves in the best way possible. Collaborating, shouting out, cheering for others is so important. There are so many organizations, people, friends, and family members to shoutout who have supported us throughout our journey. It’s only right to do the same and acknowledge others. I remember when I was younger, my mother, would expose my sister and me to many community activities which allowed us to expand our creative minds, diverse upbringing, dynamic culture, and physical well-being. This has helped me today tremendously by keeping diversity in mind through all facets of my business plan. So with that said, major shoutouts go to my mother Barbara Chen- Hemmings, Habitat for Humanity, Beth Diana Smith, West Elm, Telemaque Creative Agency, Corporate Black Girl, Stephanie Nicole Leslie, CoLab Vero Beach, Premiers Network Technology, Clearbanc, Traditions Neighborhood Market, all of our friends and Instagram family, mentors near and far, and everyone who sees The Crafted Chen. Each and every one person enlighten us and we look forward to everything ahead of us in our voyage journey.
