We had the good fortune of connecting with April Ford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, the toughest part is just taking the leap and starting. I fought the idea of doing it for a long time. Once I decided I was going to go for it, I jumped right in.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the owner of Majestic Events by April Machelle. Majestic Events was founded on my passion to create memorable moments. I’m a traveling event specialist. It has taken much work, dedication, and plenty trips back to the drawing board to get where we are today. Although, I’ve accomplished a lot.I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface. I’ve experienced many growing pains along the way and know there’s many more to come. When you operating in your true passion, you’re always up for the challenge. I don’t have quit in my DNA, so I have my moments and get back in the fight.

When it comes to events I pride myself on details. It’s always the details for me. Anyone can put a tablecloth on a table, but how you personalize each event to fit your client is the real hack to being a great event planner. If you hire me to do an event for you, it’s my duty to bring your vision to life. As for the Majestic events by April Machelle brand we’re just getting started. Stay Tuned

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My friends and I are at the age now, where we live for a good brunch and chill vibes. I live in the Savannah area so we would definitely spend a evening down on the river front, grabbing a bite and of course a few drinks. We’re also always up for a relaxing day at the spa. So a spa day along with a little therapy. Three days of outings are enough for us, the rest of the time we would spend chilling around the house and grilling.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my Dad and my grandmother. Growing up I saw nothing but dedication, hard work and resiliency from them both. My grandmother had the gift of sewing. With each item she made it was created unique and with much love. My dad was just a all around entrepreneur and businessman. He always thought outside the box. At the end of each day, he would say “well baby girl we made another day.” I would definitely say my entrepreneur spirit came from them both.
