Meet April Alvarado | Tax Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with April Alvarado and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi April, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
My work centers on empowering individuals and business owners to keep more of what they earn through strategic tax planning, while also equipping them with the tools to build long-term financial stability and generational wealth. Most of us do not learn about money in school and we end up in financial satiations we have no business in. If we have educated individuals who are willing to hold our hand, provide guidance, and coach us through implementation, we can have better outcomes. I strive to be that for my clients. No more being bamboozled! No more living in financial ignorance, the consequences are far too expensive. We can do better with our money and we should!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I am most proud of is the look on my clients’ faces when I show them how much they are saving and what they can do with that money instead. Taxes and the internal revenue code are complex matters that are not easily understood. But when I sit down with clients and discuss what strategies they can implement and what’s in it for them- I see the lightbulb go off! I see relief in their faces and how their perception of the future changes because they have hope that things are going to get better. They are in control of their financial future and who doesn’t love being in control?! Empowering clients to look ahead boldly and without fear, is what I am most excited about and why I continue to dig deep into tax law and tax strategies.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
On day 1- We’d start with brunch at Breakfast at Barneys for great food and a lively atmosphere, then ease into the city with a walk along the Atlanta BeltLine. Dinner would be at The Sun Dial Restaurant which provides a 360-degree view of the Atlanta skyline and stay at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.
On day 2- We’d explore Ponce City Market, grab bites from different vendors, and head up to the rooftop for games and skyline views. Then we’d check out the Georgia Aquarium, ride the Ferris wheel at Centennial Park, watch a show at the Fox Theater and have dinner at STK.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow! So many people and books come to mind! Regarding my financial education and personal development: Emory University, Universal Accounting Center, The American College of Financial Services, Tax Maverick, Tax Lien Code, the Internal Revenue Service and so many other programs that teach about finances and investments that I have been apart of, have all been instrumental to my career. My book list is long, but my favorite authors include Morgan Housel, Napoleon Hill, Robert Greene and the ruthless, priceless Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. A huge shoutout to my loving and devoted family, who have been supportive and instrumental to my growth as an entrepreneur, business owner and lifelong learner. A shoutout to myself, because those 3:30 AM mornings do not come without discipline and God for without him, I have proof that, I am nothing.
