We had the good fortune of connecting with Anuka Sethi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anuka, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I think work-life balance is an ever-changing conversation. What works now may not work later because I really think it depends on what you’re juggling and what is important to you! I used to factor in a lot less time for myself because what was more important was getting my work done and spending time with my friends and engaging in social situations. As I’ve gotten older and added more to my plate workwise by exploring each of my artistic hyphenates, I’ve realised that setting aside time for just myself to relax, read a book or watch some TV helps me thrive in my work and social situations more. So, work-life balance is always changing and I’m open to changing and shifting as I go.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multi-hyphenate artist. Currently, I am feeling most drawn to actor, writer, producer & model. Since I grew up a TCK (third culture kid), I use my art as a way to connect with my roots and am really passionate about creating work and space for South Asian artists. I also enjoy working in the realm of international artists working in the US. I think we have a really unique perspective on the industry and working in this community is always enriching and comforting. On that note, being international is certainly a challenge in this industry but I believe collaborating and relying on this community has been really helpful!

My brand is very influenced by my story and what it is like to grow up in a culture other than your own and what it means to reckon with multicultural identities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My support system always deserves a shoutout! My family and close friends keep me going and I wouldn’t be where I am without them!
