We had the good fortune of connecting with Antonio Shalem and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Antonio, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important principles for me are vision and innovation. These two key ingredients have been critical to my personal growth and that of my business. They have allowed me to expand my mindset as well as my branding business. It has been a journey for me over the past 9 years, but having a specific mindset has guided me. I constantly revisit my main vision for my life and business when evaluating the succeses. That is very critical! When it comes to the innovation side, I have reworked the scope of my business and rebranded it also. I have seen the coming trends and made the adjustments I deemed necessary. That also has helped develop a successful enterprise. Another part of innovation is a solid health and fitness routine. I’ve gained so much from being passionate about my physical health, mental health and creating work-life balance. My energy level has increased as has my zeal for life. I’m a better man and entrepreneur as a result of this.
What should our readers know about your business?
I have been a brand marketer for over 9 years. I’ve been involved in many trade shows, international expos, on film sets and more. This has allowed me to gain invaluable pieces of wisdom from each experience. I’ve worked on teams for certain projects, and worked solo on others. I’ve been able to consult small businesses, project coordinators, artists and creatives. The edge that gives me is tremendous! Because each experience I’ve taken on has taught me something new or added on to what I knew before. For instance, I have learned how to operate and edit pro cameras over the past few years. That has been a valuable asset for me!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It would probably be Dallas, Texas. I’ve been throughout the West Coast and Southwest but Dallas is favorite city for me. It has so much to offer in my opinion. From authentic, delicious Mexican food to great wine and beer culture! It has a lot of hidden gems that you have to discover for yourself. A favorite restaurant for me is “Moxie’s” in Uptown Dallas. And also a place called “Yolk” which is an amazing breakfast/brunch spot! Lastly, I would go horseback riding at some point because I enjoy spending time out in nature. Especially on a nature trail with a sturdy horse. And as I mentioned earlier, Dallas has a lot of options for drinks. You could do local wine, local craft beer or tequila… All worth trying!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have a few mentors in my life that I can acknowledge. The first would be my mother who gave me such a sense of support and encouragement to reach for my goals. She provided me the best tools she could give. Which were a sense of worth and wellbeing while I grew from a child into a man. Also, she showed me that there is value in being dependable and consistent. My second inspiration would be my father who is an entrepreneur himself and passed on advice from experience. He had been an entrepreneur since I was a boy and so seeing his passion also inspired me. He would always say: always have integrity in your business practices, always do the research required and ask plenty of questions when you’re unsure”. These were a few of the gems I picked up from my father. Lastly, the book by Dale Carnegie “How to Win Friends and Influence People” was part of the blueprint. As well as “Who Moved My Cheese” by Spencer Johnson
