We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Tran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anthony, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ. I moved to Michigan during my 7th grade year, and six months later, my family moved to Clayton County, GA. The experiences from my upbringing taught me to never settle, stay consistent, and be resilient. My background instilled the importance of diversity, and the exposure to different cultures taught me that there is more to life than being a product of your environment. Growing up surrounded by pain you become desensitized to the negativity around you. There is a point where you are not aware of reality and come to the conclusion that “this is it”; this is what life is. I made a choice to escape the cycle.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I define my art as timeless because I give it a piece of myself every day. My art is audio. It is my job to assist the artist by capturing their vision and bringing it to life sonically. I describe it as being a musical translator for feelings, emotions, thoughts, and moments. The things that set me apart from others are that I believe that I am coachable, consistent, and confident with my skills. A wise man told me “Be quick to listen, slow to speak”. I walk into every room knowing nothing, meaning I am willing to learn everything.
At the moment, the thing I am most proud of are the relationships I’ve formed thus far in my career. It is not every day that you run into genuine people in your industry. Those same people are the ones I hold close and who inspire and motivate me to be the greatest version of myself.
To get to where I am today, it took a lot of trial, error, and prayer. I was a knucklehead before I realized what my life could have been if I hadn’t taken my butt to school. I took a six-year break after high school and realized I had to go chase my passion because I didn’t want to settle for a dead-end gig. In life, people don’t do what they love. People love to do what they want. I chose to do both. The toughest challenge I overcame while making my transition was letting go of the past—friends, family, and relationships. I had to make a sacrifice to put myself first. It was a hard pill to swallow because of the fear of the unknown. Will it be worth it? Am I making the right decision? The biggest lesson I learned along the way was perseverance. The ones that make it are the ones that Do Not Give Up.
I want the world to know that I am here to make Great Music and bring innovation while changing the lives of people around me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start the day, I’d take them to North Georgia for a hiking or tubing experience by a river or lake. Then we’d make our way to the Beltline so they can catch a vibe. We’d end the night at my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, Pho Dai Loi.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I am today without my mother, my late brother, Remy Le, and my girlfriend. Through thick and thin, my mother never left my side. My brother, Remy, taught me how to be a man, and my girlfriend was there when my back was against a wall—rock bottom.
