We had the good fortune of connecting with Annie Sizova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annie, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Quotes from favorite books or movies are always almost magical things. Let me explain. Sometimes I have bad days like we all do and in one of those days those quotes just pop into my head and make me feel better. On my phone I have a note with quotes. There are two at the top, from the same book. “I will think about it tomorrow’ and ‘Tomorrow is another day”. Both by Scarlett O’Hara. She is a very contradictory character (the best characters often are!) but this phrase she said reminds me that sometimes the best strategy is just to… relax and let it go for a little bit and then the right decision will come.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My path as an artist was never easy nor it was meant to be. In fact, I am grateful it is the way it is. This way I learned to appreciate it more. I am an actor and last year the whole industry was hit hard by pandemic. It is almost impossible right now to produce a show and make it commercially successful due to restrictions. But, for those who want to be involved in creative fields, remember to always looks for opportunities. Right now the world is more than ever open to online productions and different form of digital art. YouTube, Instagram, TikTok give artists opportunities. So, take them. My actors and I are working right now on an online play called The Honeymoon. We decided that the world needs some comedy. You can find details if you follow my Instagram @annie.rossi.sizova. It’s a common knowledge that acting is very competitive. Especially if you share same background with me. I came from another country, English is not even my first language. But a lot of directors these days says that accents make you more attractive for roles, so have courage and do what you have to in order to succeed. There is nothing extraordinary in my story except that one day I was bold enough to try to make my dreams come true. I am certainly on my way there.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The best for me is always a picnic in the park or local gym. It serves me personally and professionally. For example, parks and lakes are there to make you feel more connected to the nature, the wisest teacher. In gym, I feel that I let my mind rest and my body work.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Frankly, if I start mentioning all people and organizations who helped me to be where I am now, I soon be running out of pages. I will try my best, though. Gratitude is extremely important. I am grateful to every college and university I’ve ever attended. It includes City University and Goldsmiths in London and American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. Every teacher I had there taught me something. Some taught time management, some helped to improve artistic skills, some had nothing but faith. Anyway, all of it bring me a whole lot of beautiful memories. I want to say special thanks to Kyle Fabel and Tom Colley, my acting tutors. A relationship between an acting student and his mentor is a real bond. The stronger it is, the easier it is to progress in acting. I was lucky to meet my mentors in the States and in the UK and to learn best from them. It is important to mention that a community shapes an individual. If you’re surrounded by a lot of talented and hard working people you’re naturally be willing to grow. As a Libra, I also believe in team work. Art is a team work. Even if you are a single person in a show, there is always a production team who help you from backstage. I want to thank everyone in my industry for inspiring me.
