We had the good fortune of connecting with Anne-Lyse Wealth and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anne-Lyse, how does your business help the community?
I started my first business, Dream of Legacy to share time tested wealth building strategies to help people in the Black Community build wealth and shrink the wealth gap.

Story telling is an integral part of what I do, whether it is through the publications I write for, my podcast, or the clients that I work with. By sharing stories of people from the community who overcame adversity to build wealth, but more specifically the strategies they used to do so, my goal is to inspire at least one person to take action and build the wealthy life they deserve.

I have had the pleasure of interviewing some amazing people and noticed how much harder it was for us to get our stories told on a wider scale. That’s why I launched the ALW Agency.

The ALW Agency, a communications agency to help Black and Brown entrepreneurs elevate their brands through storytelling, branding and PR strategies. Ultimately, the overall goal is to keep sharing these stories until we reach a point where Black wealth is normalized.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m a Certified Public Accountant turned story teller and wealth educator. I started my first business Dream of Legacy because I wanted to help change the narrative around Black wealth. I was tired of seeing predictions that the median net worth of Black families would go down to zero by 2053. I decided to do something about it by releasing my first book, Dream of Legacy, Raising Strong and Financially Secure Black Kids because I know that information changes situation.

I soon realized that to change the narrative, I needed to use my storytelling skills on multiple platforms. So in addition to sharing my personal finance tips on publications such as Business Insider, Time.com, Black Enterprise, etc… I started The Dreamers Podcast, and the Black wealth o’clock series. By sharing stories of people who overcame adversity to build wealth, but also their strategies, my hope is to help normalize Black wealth one story at a time.

I’m most proud of the fact that everyday, I use my skills and talents to uplift others.

Getting here wasn’t easy, and I still have a long way to go. I have reached important milestones in my business over the past two years. But every win was in the midst of challenging personal times. Leaning on my faith and family is what has given me the courage to keep going.

I have learned many lessons along the way. One is that it’s harder for minorities to get their stories told in mainstream media.
That’s why I launched the ALW agency to help more Black and Brown entrepreneurs get mainstream recognition through storytelling, branding, and PR strategies.

An important lesson I learned as an individual is to be open and never be afraid to dream a new dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people played a role in my journey but I have to give a special shoutout to my parents who instilled so many values in me that continue to guide me on this journey. I also want to give a shout out my biggest supporters, my husband, Serge, my three girls, and my sisters Karine and Nadine. The faith that each of them has in me has given me the courage to dare greatly.
I have had so many mentors over the years, and I’m thankful for each of them.
I also want to give a shout out to Farnoosh Torabi who told me early on that my writing could change the world and reinforced the importance of using your privilege and platform to uplift others.
