We had the good fortune of connecting with Annastacia Gladston and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Annastacia, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Working in the television industry can be extremely challenging. One habit that has helped me succeed is to constantly take notes. Every job or internship I’ve had, I always carried around a small notebook and pen. I’m writing down everything I hear and see. From my boss’ favorite show to the talent’s least favorite words…you never know what will come in handy! Another habit that has been key to my success is to always be kind. In the industry, you’re meeting many different people. You never know who is who and it doesn’t pay to be nasty to anyone. A great idea can come from an intern, and a great leader should listen and lead with respect.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am currently working as an Associate Producer at Oprah Daily, where I create digital video content. I am most proud of how far I’ve come. Back in 2019, I was a college junior working at The Wendy Williams Show with no experience– just an opportunity and a smile. Now in 2023, I’m working alongside Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King. However, getting to this point was no walk in the park. I received many many rejections, had doubters, and even got yelled at by producers in the control room. Something that helped me overcome these challenges was to never give up. As cliché as that sounds, you really can’t! I kept applying to everything, constantly sent emails, added connections on LinkedIn (even if they had no idea who I was). One lesson that I’ve learned from all of this is to keep going, especially when things get tough. I am resilient and will continue to strive to achieve my goals no matter what. That is what the world should know about me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think I would take my friends to visit The Battery. I am a sucker for aesthetics and great food! They have live events, the farmer’s market, and plenty of nice restaurants to grab a drink.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Achieving success is hard and nobody can do it alone. I first would like to praise God. I have been down dark roads multiple times in life and he has always been there to help me get back on my feet. Next, I’d like to shoutout my family and friends. Without them showing up for me in life everyday, I would be lost. Thank you for always reminding me how great I am and that I really can achieve anything. Lastly, I’d like to show love to those in the industry who have looked out for me. Thank you for saying my name in rooms where opportunities are present. Thank you for looking out for me during my intern days where I had no idea what I was doing. Thank you for leading me and teaching me what it means to be a leader. Shoutout to you all!
