We had the good fortune of connecting with Anna Rockwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anna, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been grooming for over 8 years. I am a mother of three and just a few months ago I was working for another salon downtown Atlanta and my boss was not paying me and when she did pay me it would be half of what I was owed. I tried and tried to compromise with her and I continued to work for her, I really was tired of trying to always be there for her and not being paid. She kept all our tips and I was not the first groomer of whom she did this to. I really wanted to start something of my own that I could be proud of and that my kids could grow into or help as they grow up. I am really skilled with dog grooming and I am productive with or without direction. I was tired of being taken for granted.

What should our readers know about your business?
I like to provide my customers with promos and constant comfort. I treat all the fur babies with care and I never have them in the kennels for more than 10 minutes. My husband and I are the grooming duo for the business, we have no other employees at the moment. We really Dedicate our time in making sure the customers and their fur baby’s are happy and comfortable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I spend all my time working and taking care of my kids. I’ve only been in Georgia for three years this Saturday, so far I have experienced a handful of things. I would recommend piedmont, river tubing and I love a lot of the other parks within Atlanta area. I spend a lot of time at the parks with my children, it’s their favorite.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother. She is my main investor and she’s always had my back, also my husband. I could not have done any of this without their guidance, patients and the motivation to do so.
