We had the good fortune of connecting with Anisa Mahdi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Anisa, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe the ability to take risk is essential for any form of success. Whether it is in personal relationships or business. I firmly believe in a certain level of calculated risk. By asking a few questions: Is this right for me? Is this in alignment with my chosen life path? Will I be happy with the end result of my choice? What can I learn from this no matter than outcome? Take the time to determine what is needed for the outcome you would like, then move. Now I personally have to be mindful of over thinking. I like to analyze EVERYTHING. My method now is to allow a set amount of time to think about if my choice is worth the risk. In the end, I make the choice that is in alignment with my path and the lessons I need to learn at the moment.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am the blogger and creator of Nourished by Anisa. I share plant based smoothies and juices for wellness and weight management (whether it is weight gain or weight loss). Currently, I am in the process of starting a delivery service that includes plant based juices, smoothies, snacks, and protein powders. I plan to have this started by the end of this year. What’s exciting about my products is that they are allergy friendly. My products are gluten, refined sugar, and dairy free. They not only taste great but they are good for you. My end goal? When you consume my product it leaves you feeling better than before. From energy boosting juices to protein boosting smoothies, I provide foods that are better for you with whole food ingredients your body will recognize. I recognize now that many of us are suffering from what I call a “energy deficit”. Our lives are fast paced and we simply do not have the time to to focus on ourselves and our well being. My overall goal is to help remedy this by providing better quality comfort foods and beverages with healing ingredients. I got to where I am business wise today by learning to be disciplined and truly being authentic to myself. I believe true long term success thrives in authenticity. It’s the foundation of relationships with those you work with and your customers. I’ve learned this through other seasoned business owners in the health and wellness industry. The path of health and wellness is challenging, but it is even more rewarding. People in our communities need it more than ever. What I want the world to know about my brand is I am here to help remedy that. And bringing my local community back to the highest state of health is my first priority.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Atlanta has so many exciting places visit and hang out- especially outdoors during warm weather. My favorite places to go are Stone Mountain, the Belt line, and Piedmont Park. Other places to dine and hang out would include Suntrust Park, the Avalon, and Ponce City Market. I also love local events such as the Jazz Festival, the Sweet Auburn festival , the annual Veggie Taste. Also an honorable mention – my favorite restaurant to go to is Plant Based Pizzeria. I like to order then eat it at Piedmont Park. It’s the perfect activity for a relaxing Sunday.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful because I am surrounded by so many friends and family who support me. Courtney Arlette has always been a supportive foundation on my journey. Jason Gilmore ,my significant other, has always been a wonderful and loving soundboard. My sister, Ameera Mahdi, always gives sound advice when I need it. And last but not least my mother, Ashanti Mahdi, is my inspiration behind everything that I do. She introduced me to health, wellness, and a plant based lifestyle. In fact, she is the first person who trained me. I am forever grateful to have so many people close to me to support me on my path.
