We had the good fortune of connecting with Animal Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Animal, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I embrace risks. Almost seek them out. I believe no risk no reward. The worst that can happen isn’t a loss but a lesson. Which in turn is really the best thing. 10 years ago I took a big risk in leaving my comfort zone in Nashville TN and moving to Atlanta living with 3 friends in a 2 bedroom apartment with no job and money to barely last me a 3 months. But without making that leap I would’ve been stuck in the cycle of going nowhere slow that I was in.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We started the podcast and network to hear and see content that we felt was missing or being misrepresented. I craft content that I would be a fan of. Authentic and original. Hip hop is my specialty but I’m not limited to it. Sneakers, sports, film and tv are other entertainment avenues we represent. The name of our network Reelville (Media Group) represents for a community that has been represented by the wrong people for too long. Those days are done.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I love to shoo I’d take them to a few boutiques in the city. That’s the biggest difference between my previous city and Atlanta. There are places in town to shop and find heat. After we spend too much on shoes we can grab something to eat at Bartaco.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people I could shoutout right here it’s difficult to choose one. Instead of overthinking I’ll shoutout the most important person that’s right next to me, my wife Koyanna. Without her flexibility in letting me spends hours on hours focused on my podcast and side hustles I wouldn’t have been able to build the network like I have. Having someone in your corner supporting and understanding is the most important part of the of my story.
