We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelo Byrd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business stemmed from a desire to turn my passions into something impactful and sustainable. I wanted to create something uniquely my own, where I could bring my creativity and expertise to the forefront. The thought process involved identifying gaps in the market, leveraging my skills, and addressing challenges I had observed in my field.
It was also about independence—taking control of my career path, having the freedom to make decisions, and creating opportunities not only for myself but also for others. I focused on building something that aligned with my values, where I could deliver quality, authenticity, and innovation.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others?
What sets me apart is my dedication to authenticity, attention to detail, and my ability to blend creativity with a strong understanding of my clients’ needs. I’m not just offering a product or service—I’m offering an experience. Whether it’s meal prep, catering, or creating unique dining moments, I bring passion, precision, and a personal touch that ensures every project reflects my commitment to excellence.
What am I most proud of?
I’m most proud of the trust and relationships I’ve built with my clients and collaborators. Seeing the joy and satisfaction on people’s faces, knowing I’ve contributed to their special moments or made their lives a little easier, is incredibly rewarding. I’m also proud of the resilience I’ve shown in navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship and the growth I’ve achieved through persistence and hard work.
How did I get to where I am business-wise?
I got here by being relentless in pursuing my goals. It took a mix of hard work, strategic planning, and constant learning. I started by leveraging my skills, seeking opportunities to showcase my talent, and building a strong network. Every setback became a lesson, and every win, no matter how small, became a building block for the next step. I also leaned on mentorship and collaboration to sharpen my vision and expand my reach.
Was it easy?
No, it wasn’t easy. Starting and growing a business comes with challenges—financial risks, competition, balancing creativity with logistics, and even self-doubt. There were moments of uncertainty and setbacks, but they taught me resilience.
How did I overcome obstacles?
I overcame obstacles by staying focused on my “why”—the reason I started this journey. I broke challenges into manageable parts and tackled them with determination. Surrounding myself with supportive people and mentors helped me stay motivated. I also stayed flexible, learning to pivot and adapt when things didn’t go as planned. Most importantly, I maintained a growth mindset, embracing every failure as a stepping stone to success.
What do I want the world to know about my story and my brand?
I want the world to know that my story is rooted in passion, resilience, and authenticity. I started this journey because I believe in the power of food, connection, and community. Every meal, event, and experience I create comes from a place of purpose and pride.
My brand is about more than just food or service—it’s about creating memories, celebrating culture, and elevating everyday moments into something extraordinary. It represents dedication, creativity, and a relentless drive to bring joy to others through my work.
I want people to see that success doesn’t come overnight. It’s built from grit, perseverance, and the courage to take risks and dream big. My brand is a testament to what’s possible when you trust the process, embrace challenges, and never stop striving for excellence.
At its core, my story and my brand are about bringing people together, honoring traditions, and making every moment count. I want people to feel inspired, cared for, and part of something bigger every time they experience what I have to offer.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, here’s how we’d make the most of their trip:
Day 1: Brunch, Vibes & Bourbon
• Kick off the trip with brunch at The Real Milk and Honey in College Park. We’d savor their famous chicken biscuits and sip on some perfectly curated bourbon cocktails—because every great weekend starts with good food and a little spirit.
• Spend the afternoon exploring local shops or relaxing at a nearby park.
• Dinner at Le Colonial for an elegant experience. Their beef pho is a highlight, paired with Old Rip Van Winkle 10-Year for a premium finish.
Day 2: Exploring & Entertainment
• Start the day with coffee and light bites at Cultivate Food & Coffee.
• Head over to Ponce City Market for shopping and rooftop fun with stunning city views.
• Grab lunch at Mary Mac’s Tea Room, a Southern classic.
• Take the evening to explore Buckhead’s nightlife, with stops at exclusive lounges and clubs, experiencing the vibrant Atlanta party scene.
Day 3: Chill, Cook, & Game Night
• Brunch at Atlanta Breakfast Club to enjoy their peach cobbler French toast.
• Spend the afternoon relaxing at home, preparing for an epic game night.
• Invite friends over, whip up a feast (think linguine alle vongole or smoked Old Fashioneds), and enjoy a night filled with laughter, board games, and competitive card play.
Day 4: Culture & Farewell Feast
• Wrap up with a visit to the High Museum of Art or the National Center for Civil and Human Rights for a dose of culture and history.
• Have a farewell dinner at Staplehouse for a memorable, elevated dining experience before the trip comes to a close.
Atlanta is a city that thrives on energy, culture, and connection. From food to fun, every moment is an opportunity to create unforgettable memories.
