We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelia “Angie” Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelia “Angie”, why did you pursue a creative career?
I decided to pursue a career in writing and filmmaking, because I’ve always been passionate about it since I was a young kid. I had been secretly writing for fun throughout my teen years into adulthood. It was an inevitable path that feels like fate for me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My ability to write solid scripts in any genre will allow me to stand out. My most proud moments on my film journey has been winning awards for my work. I’m really excited for my next few projects which are in various stages of production. I’ve elevated professionally and independently because I’ve had the opportunity to work with directors, execs, and producers who saw my talent and believe in my vision. This journey isn’t easy and there are moments I may have doubted myself, but I learned to give myself grace and keep going. I overcome some challenges by reaching out to my network for advice or resources I may need for a project. I’ve learned that there are no limitations to my imagination, and that there is no I in team. I want the world to know that I will be stepping into roles as Director, and producer this year.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For the best time ever in ATL & surrounding areas, I’d take visitors to Gilly Brew bar, and Black Coffee ATL in the morning to start the day. Hike or walk in Stone Mountain state park, or a stroll through Winn Park in Atlanta. I love food and a couple of my favorite spots that are trendy and have great food are Toast on Lennox, Breakfast at Barneys, and Apt4B to name a few. I enjoy hanging at parks for people watching, or reading a book. A few fun activities when visiting Atlanta for visitors is the Aquarium, High Museum of Art, and bike riding in Piedmont park.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my family who has always believed in me and continue to encourage me along my filmmaking journey. I also would like to shout out my filmmaking team!
