Meet Angela Young | Author & Experience Curator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Young and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, what do you attribute your success to?
I’m able to thrive primarily because my morals and values are deeply rooted in self-respect, self-worth, professionalism, and integrity. But most importantly, it is my unwavering faith that keeps me grounded and humbled. My grit and believing in myself have me prepared for new opportunities and obstacles. Furthermore, I understand that part of my purpose is to serve others and create opportunities for those that will come after me. These are the key factors behind my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career started as a manager at the renowned Patchwerk Recording Studios. During my tenure there, I had the opportunity to work with some of the most prominent Hip Hop and R&B artists in the industry. This experience allowed me to flourish and learn how to be a savvy business woman. My love for music runs deep. Like poetry, I feel music gives a voice to our emotions. I self-published my first book of poetry for young women in 2014. The book is entitled “Pieces of Me”. This inspiring book of poetry covers sensitive and universal topics with a gentle, honest approach that invites the reader into a conversation with the poet. Pieces of Me is available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and on my website www.iamangelayoung.com. I am currently working on my second book which is set to be published in Fall 2021. The passion that drives me is my desire to make women feel empowered, beautiful, and confident. This passion serves as the motivating force behind the beNAKED Campaign. The beNAKED Campaign seeks to empower, inspire, and enlighten women and girls of all ages to know that no matter how the world defines beauty, true beauty comes from our heart and soul. We have some amazing things on the horizon as the beNAKED Brand is undergoing a little makeover. I am also passionate about my purpose, life, and paying it forward. I believe that women can rise above fear and limitation and discover a whole new way of living that is full of freedom, deep connections, and true authentic happiness-the kind that comes from within. I desire to create a space that is centered on the art of connection and hopes to use my voice and the beNAKED platform to cultivate experiences through various channels that will allow women to connect on a deeper level with each other, but most importantly themselves. I want women to embody more love, live unapologetically, and embrace their imperfections, creating a mindset that empowers them to truly accept and value themselves. I want women to understand the magic they hold within but also discover the magic in uplifting each other. But when I’m not head deep in my own brand you can find me busy on a television set working and mastering my craft as a costumer in the wardrobe department.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to create memorable moments for my family or friends when they visit. My favorite thing to do is check out any new attractions, restaurants, or events happening in the city. The agenda is listed below: 1. Ponce City Market a. Candle Workshop at Candlefish (I would bring her favorite bottle of wine to enjoy during class) b. Enjoy games, view, and drinks on the rooftop to close out the evening. 2. Dinner at Pasha ATL 3. Brunch at Einstein’s Midtown 4. Pedicures at The Water Room 5. A bike ride on the Belt Line 6. Spend one night at the Getaway Tiny Cabin 7. Conclude the visit with a spa day at Spa Sydell Buckhead.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my amazing family, friends, and the women that support me endlessly. I cherish them all and I don’t take it for granted. There is nothing more valuable to me than being surrounded with love and with people who love and believe in you. They are the ones that keep me going, keep me motivated, and keep me lifted in a positive way. I wouldn’t be the woman I am today if it wasn’t for my phenomenal support system.
