We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Streeter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Hm, one thing about my industry that outsiders are unaware of would have to be ‘creators block’.

This is the inability to generate new ideas. When people think of a graphic designer job, the first thing that comes to mind is ‘what a fun job’ and yes, it is indeed fun but it’s not so fun when your brain just isn’t working because this job requires your brain to be working 24/7.

I usually get creators block at the wrong times; when I have a big project due or when I am on a strict time limit. Those are the absolute worst times!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others would probably have to be is that I’m not in it for the money (doesn’t mean I don’t like it, lol) but Graphic Design is a true passion for me, I enjoy what I do. Showcasing my creativity and people actually taking a liking to it makes me happy.

Getting where I am today took a lot of patience, dedication, faith and long nights. This journey has not been easy but I don’t have any regrets.

I know the things I want out of life and that’s what I think about when I encounter any obstacle, my future is my motivation. I have to get over the obstacles to have a clear path way and make it to my destination.

I’ve learned to stay consistent and never give up even when you feel like you want to. Also, breaks are essential for your mental health. If you feel like you need a break, please take one but don’t give up.

My brand is still in the process of growing. Looking back at my business a couple of years ago, even just a year ago— I am amazed at my growth. I’m only going to get better and I can’t wait to see what is in store next!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town, we’d be doing tons of things. I am a foodie and I love a good co-working space, too!

We would have to have a brunch date, those are essential. Toast on Lenox is my go-to and they never disappoint.

I love to shop, so of the course we would be going to the mall or Urban Outfitters!

The best drinks come from Slush on Edgewood, we would definitely be visiting them. They also have good hookah and the ambiance is fire!

If there was a concert, we would be going to see Jhene Aiko because who doesn’t love Jhene?!

The Illuminarium is an interesting place to see new things and get a new experience. Never been but I really do want to go.

Last but not least, Charley’s Cheesesteaks. I love those cheese steaks but the locations are super far.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to recognize my support system— my friends and family and also, my clients. Without them, I probably would’ve given up a long time ago. Running a business can become stressful sometimes and often times, I do think maybe this isn’t for me but I’m always reminded that this would affect so many people in many ways. I appreciate everything!
