Meet Angel Massey | Model, Digital Creator, & Entreprenur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Massey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson I learned in my career so far would be consistency is key. Having a dream is a beautiful thing but without consistency your dream will never become reality. You have the ability to control the outcome of your future and hard work/consistency are the keys to success, When life gets hard, do not let fear stop you from accomplishing your goals.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe I am very versatile when it comes to being creative in my line of work. I love art so when it comes to bringing visions and ideas to life through a camera lens, it excites me. I have even creative directed some of my own photo shoots and I am looking forward on expanding my creative eye by creative directing for other people. No matter where the photoshoot is held (outdoor, or studio) or what type of shoot it is (editorial, commercial, edgy, etc.), I become a different person in front of the camera. Modeling is definitely becoming an over saturated market so in this industry you need to be confident in yourself and your brand. I believe the confidence I have in myself allows me to walk in doors or my name be in rooms I would never have thought of before. Modeling allows me to be in spaces with creative people such as artist, photographers, stylist, etc. I have been able to be apart of so many new opportunities, collaborate and meet so many different people this year because of modeling. An important lesson I learned is to be cautious and not to be too trusting of others. People will try to take advantage of you for their own personal gain and as a women it can be hard to navigate who has good intentions and who does not. In all industries there will be people who are unprofessional and try to push boundaries; you need to be confident in who you are and what will/will not be allowed. The world needs to know I am a force to be reckoned with. I am relentless and will stop at nothing to accomplish my goals. I cannot wait to show you all my hard work and dedication pays off. I am thankful for all of my present and future blessings to come.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I think you have the most fun in the city when you explore or ask the locals new things to do. In the spring and summer months I love attending festivals. Atlanta has some amazing festivals (Jazz fest, R&B picnics, ATL Sit and Paint) and it allows you to get out and meet the beautiful people of the city. Little 5 points has a wonderful blend of people and art, as well as cool thrifting spots. My all time favorite place to eat is off of Buford Highway. It’s called Lee’s Bakery and they sell amazing authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Buford Highway is one of my favorite places to find something to eat because there are so many different cultures and different foods.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s crazy to think that my two year old daughter gave me inspiration to fully chase my dreams. There was a point in my life where I had no direction and barely an idea on how I wanted my life to go. I felt as though my body betrayed me since I was constantly at war with myself in my own head. I found out I was pregnant and I automatically wanted to be someone my daughter could be proud of. I had complications in my pregnancy which resulted in me having a premature baby. She was resuscitated and spent her first month and a half of life int he NICU. Since she found so hard for her life, I knew I had to give her the life she deserved. God blessed with an amazing gift and her name is Nova Genesis which means ‘New Beginnings’. I want to show my daughter that life is beautiful; she is made of magic and do anything she wants in this world. I want to watch my daughter learn the world around her. This inspired me to create something where I can be present in her life.
