We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Dweh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angel, what inspires you?
I draw inspiration from life’s beautiful moments spent with my family, friends, and my devoted
fans, whom I lovingly refer to as “Angels.” The vibrant music, sounds, and diverse cultural
heritage of Liberia, Africa, also deeply inspire me.
Growing up in a Krahn ethnic household in Liberia exposed me to various languages spoken by
different Liberian tribes. This multicultural upbringing has greatly influenced my journey as a
singer-songwriter and dancer. Inspired by my parents’ spirit of giving and their dedication to
helping others, I’ve come to understand the importance of making a positive impact on society.
This led me to establish the “Dweh Foundation” in 2024. Through this initiative, one child per
year in Liberia receives educational funding, with the foundation scheduled to officially launch in
September 2024.
To be eligible for the “Dweh Foundation,” students from 6th grade to 12th grade in Liberia must
meet specific criteria. They must reside in Liberia, and their parents must provide proof of
school registration. Additionally, students must maintain a grade average of C or above to
participate in the foundation program.
Another requirement is that students must enroll in and pass a music course for one semester
with a grade of B or above. This requirement encourages their engagement with music
education, further enriching their overall learning experience.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Born in Liberia, Africa, and raised in the United States of America, I am an Afrobeat artist,
singer-songwriter, and dancer. My music blends unique lyrics and vocal styles, reflecting a
fusion of Liberian and American cultures.
Being true to myself and my Liberian heritage distinguishes me as an artist. My distinct voice
and lyrical approach have cultivated a devoted fanbase known as “Angels,” who actively
engage across my social platforms. Their unwavering support enriches my musical journey and
deepens my gratitude towards them.
I credit my current success to God guidance, bolstered by the steadfast encouragement of my
family, close friends, and my cherished “Angels” fanbase. This journey has taught me the value
of honesty, both in life and in my music. Songwriting serves as a means to authentically connect
with and express myself to my fans.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When dining out in the city, I have a few favorite spots: I enjoy lunch at a Chinese restaurant, grab
breakfast at IHOP, and dinner at home is a special treat, especially when I get to savor Chinese fried rice.

Another passion of mine is attending live theater productions, particularly musicals like “Hairspray” and
“West Side Story.” Each time I attend a show, I leave feeling inspired by the production— from the
mesmerizing sound, lighting, costumes, and set design. The performers' choreography always impresses
me with their skill and artistry.
I also have a love for visiting museums to explore history through an artistic lens. When the sun is
shining, I enjoy camping outdoors, immersing myself in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to give a heartfelt shout-out to my cousin Hilizbaby for her unwavering passion and dedication in helping me excel in music creation, particularly in songwriting. She has been my rock during moments of writer’s block, supporting me through every writing session.

I also want to acknowledge my stylist, Mardia Gibson, who has stood by me through challenging times. She has come through in creating last-minute costumes for events and has significantly boosted my self-confidence through her expert fashion guidance.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to Jerel Straley for his invaluable contributions to Lake Village Music LLC. His efforts are greatly appreciated and have significantly enriched my musical projects within the management company.
