We had the good fortune of connecting with Aneesah Skinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aneesah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business in the beginning of the pandemic while I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter. I wanted a change in my life. I had spent most of my adult life working a 9-5 for someone else . I thought it was time for me to bet on myself. So I taught myself everything I could about photography, videography, and graphic design. I loved every moment of it . I was so hungry for knowledge. That mindset helped my business thrive the most . Now 3 years later I an expert photographer, videographer , web designer, graphic designer , and social media analyst.

What should our readers know about your business?
Media Ink is a multimedia company that specializes in the growth and development of small businesses owners and creatives. Our business was founded on the realization that many creatives have never invested in the business behind art . I was and still am a artist . I love photography, music and fashion. I spent years in the industry and working a job because I never got smart with my business plan. Being apart of the community I noticed a pattern that many artist lack the structure that it requires to become successful. Whether that’s ; accounting , social media marketing , business structure, or even something as simple as scheduling. We want to put a end to the term “starving artist” . Getting smart about business can make a huge difference in your success. Many small businesses will never monopolize because they do not invest in a individual who specialize in advertising and marketing. Having a strategy is what we specialize in at Media Ink . We create a step by step guide tailored to your industry. We pair that with photography, videography and social media marketing to help your business see real results .

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love food! Going out with friends to go eat is my love language. I would go to Iron Hill Brewery in Buckhead for their Philly Cheese Steak egg rolls! If we’re feeling upscale she can’t leave until we dinner at Atlas! I love spoken word and jazz so Kat’s Cafe in midtown is awesome.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family is my biggest motivation. I couldn’t live the life I do now without the support of my husband and family. My daughter keeps me inquisitive about life. She really has changed my perspective of the world, and reminded me I can be anything I want.
