Meet Andrew Williams | Optometrist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Before opening my practice and even attending optometry school, I worked in a couple food service positions; one of which was an upscale restaurant. Not only did working in that particular industry teach me how to multitask, it also taught me how to exemplify quality customer service. Moving forward to my practice now, I remind my staff very frequently that patients can go anywhere in the world to get an eye exam. However, our duty is to make sure that they get the best patient care and service they have ever experienced at any eye care facility. That is what separates us from corporate eye care spaces as well as even some private practices.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I feel that my practice’s success and growth has a lot to do with me studying so much prior to opening this location. For example, in every private and corporate practice I worked in as an intern or as an eye doctor, I was sure to study what patient’s liked, what they complained about, how doctor’s billed, which frame lines were of quality, etc. I have pulled the good from each of those experiences and it has allowed for my practice’s success.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My practice is in southwest Atlanta and this side of the city is a gem in it’s own. We have an amazing upscale Caribbean-soul restaurant called Spice House that has great food and drinks. There are a couple of hole in the wall restaurants like Jamrock Restaurant, Atlanta Fish House Grill, and BGR Grill which are all delicious as well. My wife and I are huge fans of Ponce City Market further into the city because there is such a lively atmosphere there as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dr. Kennard Herring who owns Nostalgic Eye Care in Philadelphia has been without a doubt a key person in my success. He has been a personal and business mentor as well as a friend.
