Meet Andrew Thompson | Art Director, Artist, Apparel Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always wanted to bring my art to life. Hats and Apparel seemed like a natural fit/medium to do so. I grew up in the late 80s and 90s so a lot of my apparel is influenced by that era. My business blends a lot of hiphop,sports and entertainment.

I started Brand NYPOSSE because it blends together community & sports, culture. Everyone can be apart of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

1.My art is a fusion of poly & pixel art.

2.One thing that allows me to separate myself from others is the ability to blend different things together and make them into cool art pieces.

3.I’m excited to get into a streetwear showroom in month 3 of my brand.

I also get excited when I get the opportunity to meet new creative folks in my industry everyday.

4. I got to where I am professionally from prayer/god, family support and random strangers ooking out for me.

5.A major lesson I’ve always learned is to always evolve and never stop working at your craft.

6.I want my brand to bring people together like hiphop did in the past. NYPosse represents a collective of folks working towards a common goal. That’s the idea behind the brand.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To EAT/Drink: Doraville is a nice place to find international food. Buford highway offers a variety of international food. For entertainment I love the City Winery. On a side note some great places to visit. Botanical Gardens and Stone Mountain park.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife. Because she is very instrumental in the brand dna.
