We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Cruz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is believing. First and foremost you have to believe in yourself before anyone ever can. I think once people begin to see that you believe it makes it so much easier to support.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a musician from the State of Connecticut. The one thing that sets me apart is I always strive to be different and / or do different. I started off displaying this by refraining from using explicit words writhing my raps. I got here today by pure drive. It was never easy and I wanted to quit a bunch of times. But I just keep going. I just want the world to know that nothing was handed or given to me. And I know when I finally make it I’ll be able to inspire others in the same position.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I spend a lot of time outside my city. But when I’m in town I gotta hit “Oven on Bakery” on Jefferson. That’s my go to spot. Other than that I’m just relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends when I’m in town.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly I just want to shoutout my team THT first and foremost. Without them I would be nothing. Times when I wanted to quit they were right there to push me past boundaries I felt were my limit. Secondly I would like to thank my family. I deal with and do a lot within this industry and I love to get around my family and put all the work on the back burner..
