We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea de Anda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, what is the most important factor behind your success?
It’s all about the couple! In the first years as a wedding Photographer, I focused heavily on the most epic and mindblowing images, location, and posing for couples on their wedding day. It made me feel proud of my art and skill, and as the years went by, I noticed that my couples were investing their money and energy in other kinds of pictures to furnish their home.
They were focusing on quiet little moments filled with emotion. Example: The look on her dad’s face when she was walking down the aisle, she didn’t notice it, but her dad was breaking into tears while he was giving her away.
A warm embrace and words of encouragement while mom is pinning the boutonniere on her son’s lapel. and lastly, One of my favorite moments, is the couple’s first dance with all of their loved ones around them.
As I started to ask what was important to THEM, my business philosophy changed completely, and instead of focusing on the epic portraits that I wanted for myself, I started to shift my focus to the real, timeless, and unique moments that told THEIR unique story. That made me a better storyteller I point my camera where my couples hold their values.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Photography is my passion and my job, and I look forward to it every day. Being a wedding photographer is a very emotional/technical thing, it is a challenge to create technically correct, well-composed, perfectly lit, beautiful images all day long, every weekend while telling the unique story of a couple’s most important day.
Wedding photography is not for everyone, but it’s for me! I love that challenge. Bring it on!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them hiking to Amicalola Falls, Arabian Mountain, and Providence Canyon, 3 completely different locations that showcase the diversity of Georgia.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Ben Hartley and Ben Adams from the Six Figure Photography podcast. Attending “ABUNDANCE” their mindset and business workshop changed my life, the way I do business and I tell stories, I found my “why” and it’s easier to pursue my goals when they are clear and visible.
