We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Cano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
There is this phrase that pops into my head every single day and I go by every day. In Spanish, it is “ El sol sale para todos”. Which means the sun shines for everybody. And I firmly believe that.

Lashing has gotten really popular in the last couple of years. Many have people have taken the skill and made small businesses. But I have learned that I shouldn’t feel intimidated or worried about other people doing the same thing as I do. I’m learned that making my business my own and giving it my own personality has made me grown into the professional that I am now and my clients have just been more than amazing, supportive and Genuine.

The beauty industry has taught me that it is not for the weak and that I shouldn’t doubt myself because we all have room for growth and learning. I learn from influencers or people that have influenced me in the industry, I’ve learned from my friends, Clients. So many people are in this business and possibly do the same thing I do but being myself and giving it my personal touch is what has gotten me this far in my business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Funny fact is that I never thought I would be inside of the beauty industry in the first place. I used to be a person that would rarely get my own services done like my brows or even lashes. I studied in Mexico, most of my life. I have a masters in nursing, but coming to the states and getting credentials done was a hassle. I got a lot of doors closed and opportunity shut down because I hadn’t worked in the states. I was born in Los Angeles, California grew up in Atlanta and live in Cobb county until middle school., from there my family moved to Mexico And I came back until I was 24. I didn’t know it was gonna be so hard to start all over in the states but I did my best to move forward.

During Covid, I was working multiple jobs that had to do with health and I lost them because of Covid. And I started DoorDash and one day I came across a salon suite rental that was in process of opening, and I got interested in the concept of their business. Long story short they gave me a job. I was so excited because I wanted to stop DoorDash.

I learned the ups and downs of how to build a beauty business. And all the girls and other professionals that were in the suites motivated me to get into the beauty industry. I just said one day i should go get a service done. What service should I go get? and I had never gotten my lashes done.i made an appointment with this local girl because I had been following her work for a while. The day of my appointment, she made me feel so welcome and got to work in doing my own lashes, we got to talking and venting about life and she offered me to show me how to do lashes and I took her course and got to work.

It has not been easy. But I didn’t know I was going to love it so much and I didn’t know it was gonna give me that freedom that I always wanted. I worked multiple jobs where I was unappreciated and not cared about.

I feel so blessed with every one that chooses to come to get a service done with me because, they want me to be part of their lives in making them more beautiful than they already are.

I love making everyone feel more beautiful than they already are because a beauty service really just enhances your natural beauty.

I love that I feel free to be myself as a Latin woman. That I have a skill on both inside of the states and in Mexico. I love giving my business that Personal touch of me. I love every one of my clients and they motivate me to give them the best service that I can. And maybe that comes from my background of working in healthcare. There’s not much of a difference in the beauty service and a healthcare service.

I serve and provide caring, loving, and quality And there’s nothing better than doing that as being your own boss

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What would I do? Lol. I love going to small coffee shops around the area. There are my peace And the best way to have quality time with friends. In Kennesaw area check out the lazy Labrador coffee shop right in Kennesaw Square. Honestly, it’s my to go to spot and they always have made an amazing iced coffee.

I enjoy going to the small town squares like Marietta Square, downtown Kennesaw And the Smyrna Plaza There are so many activities and bars that you could go to just in those areas.

You can’t forget to go to the Braves stadium and if there’s a game in town, you have to go. I’m a big baseball, loving girl. Not only is there baseball games at the stadium, but they have event venues for concerts at the Coca-Cola Roxy, which I’ve gone to multiple times for a lot of different artists. And so many different food vines. I love going to Pbr On a weekend. I always have good honky-tonk music.

Nature is everybody’s best friend so hitting Kennesaw mountain For a hike or Acworth Beach, Roswell mill. Are some of my favorite places to go and enjoy nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my family. A family without borders. You are my everything and my inspiration and I don’t say that enough to you all. They have always been very supportive in every step of creating my lash business.
Especially my sister. She has been my guinea pig and my model ever since I started and just the fact of her letting me try new things and giving her services has helped me so much In my business, if it wasn’t for her, I probably wouldn’t have grown as much as I have now. Thanks to her modeling for my videos and letting me take pictures of her. I was able to put out content Of my work or even her taking pictures of me working has been one of the main keys of my business growing. So thanks to you Sister for everything you have done to help me grow.
