We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea B. Flintroy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea B., as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I have done as a parent was allowed my son to be himself and express himself in a way where he can be transparent and honest with me. I created a non-judgment space for him to openly express his thoughts and emotions about any situation that he may be in. I created a term called “session” where he is given the space to be vulnerable and freely share his opinions, thoughts, and fears. The term “session” is so significant to me because I was a teen mom needing the space for me to freely share my emotional needs. In such a time where I felt so alone, sad, and like a failure to my family. During a session, I provide my son with encouragement, advice, and freedom.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is ABF Coaching and Consulting, LLC. I am a confidence coach and I provided my clients with the confidence and clarity to show up for themselves. I assist my clients with rediscovering, redefining, and recreating themselves through being confident. I am proud to have designed a safe space for women to be vulnerable, courageous, and authentic. I got to where I am from my experiences, failures, and wins. It was not easy by no means but I am happy for the journey I had to get me where I am today. I overcame my challenges with prayer, support, and resiliency. The breakdowns I had led me to my breakthroughs; from being a teen mom, going through depression having suicidal thoughts, and being a single mother I learned to be resilient and pray through it. The lessons I have learned along the way were to show the world who I am and not allow the world to tell me who I am, enjoy my journey, and take up space being my authentic self unapologetically. I want the world to know that Andrea B. Flintroy is here to take up space and show up courageously and confidently.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my girlfriends came to visit me I would take them to Hook & Reel for a seafood extravaganza, the Whitewater center to go rock climbing, ziplining, and water rafting, then we would go eat at Capital Grille or Steak 48 for a delicious steak. Then we would travel to Asheville to see the peaceful mountains, go hiking, eat at Early Girl, and do vineyard tours.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First I would like to shoutout to my God who allowed me to have the experiences that shaped my life and teaching to my son. I would like to shoutout to my son for shifting my mind and helping me grow to develop the space for him that I would have appreciated.
