We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Mckie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I thought about first starting my business, was wanting to do something with my life. Having a criminal background, made it hard to find steady work. Thinking I need a way to make a living, I picked up a camera, helping a friend out on a shoot, and I kinda liked the vibe. Thought maybe I can do this. I tried it, I fell in love with being behind the camera, and people started to love my work, and it was starting to do what I needed it to do, help pay my bills. I’m also now in a position to inspire others who have dealt with hardships in life. Never give up.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a photographer, owner of Vintage Photography. Man this was not a easy road, still isn’t easy, but I am a firm believer, it’s not worth it if it was easy. I have been extremely proud and honored to work on a movie set, and bring out others visions for their businesses. Between Covid-19, and the economy, its been a little hard where I am from to get the clientele, but I still wouldn’t trade it for anything. I love being able to bring out the vision of others. I’ve had to really learn the true meaning of patience.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would most definitely go to the indoor skydiving, and go go karting. Food wise, I love seafood, so Juicy Crab is on my list, Old Lady Gang (with the best lamb chops) Gocha’s Breakfast Bar. These are literally my 3 favorite spots to eating. My friends love to be adventurous, and eat good!!! We might go to a club, just to enjoy the good vibes and music. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Girls Who Brunch Tour, Ni’Cola Mitchell, the founder does amazing work with this group. Offering a day of fun and learning and giving to young girls throughout the country, especially the at risk youth.
