We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Leake and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had been in my profession for 20 years when an opportunity to purchase my grandparents property in our small downtown business district presented itself. I knew I had more to offer and wanted to help train and promote the next generation of stylist. Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been in the beauty industry for 27 years. In my 20th year I knew I had more to offer than what I could give just behind the chair alone. I purchased some family property in 2014 and renovated my grandparents old 1940’s home into a salon. My passion and love is my craft, but I more so love giving back to the local community that has given so much to me. That same year our company was awarded the small business of the year by our chamber of commerce. The next year was a bit more challenging as I was learning to work behind the chair as well as running a business. I had attended a 3 day summit business course and took the plunge and hired a consultant. Best business decision ever!! Yes, there were tons of growing pains as we went along, but so worth it currently. We strive to be the best and a pillar in our community. Our dedication, education, and a guest experience is what sets us apart from so many others in our area.Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, welcome to beautiful downtown Jasper,GA! Home of the Georgia Marble company. We are known world wide for our marble mining. We are located at the foothills of the applachain mountains and the beginning (or end) of the Appalachian trail. As our name, The First Mountain City implies, we have the most beautiful scenery around. Just an hour north of Atlanta. On a fun Friday night we would enjoy a great meal at The Old Mulehouse restaurant, overlooking the north Georgia mountains, followed by drinks at Pendley Creek Brewing Co. A trip down Main Street is not complete without a stop by Lollidrops Sweet shop for ice cream and candy.Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shout out to my wonderful family. Their unwavering support and love is one of the main reasons I am where I am today. Of course, my amazing staff and our loyal guests deserve all the credit!
