We had the good fortune of connecting with Amun Uddin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amun, what do you attribute your success to?
I feel the key to my success is that I love what I do and am truly passionate about it, which keeps me motivated to keep going and doesn’t feel like a hard task. I’ve been working in the beauty industry for 5 years and absolutely love it, so content creation allows me to share my passion with the rest of the world with my own creative touch. From thinking of content ideas, to actually executing them and filming and editing, I genuinely enjoy every part of it and never get bored.

Tell us more about your art. What sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am a beauty content creator and have been in the beauty industry for 5 years. I started my journey as a seasonal beauty advisor at Ulta Beauty and absolutely loved it. Overtime, I got promoted to Lead Cashier, Prestige Beauty Advisor, and am now currently a Chanel Advisor at the same location. I was able to get a lot of knowledge of beauty during these years while working and developed a passion for beauty. I would read and watch videos about anything new in the industry and learn new techniques for makeup and skincare and try them out myself. During Covid lockdown when I was at home, I realized that I need to find a way to share my love and passion with the world, so I started my Instagram account Amun Glams. In the beginning, I was nervous because I didn’t have many followers and didn’t have a large audience reach. There were times when I considered closing down the account because I thought there was no way I could reach out to a larger audience. Then at times some people around me would mock me and tell me that I was making a fool of myself, thinking I could ever be an influencer or content creator. However, my family and close friends from work were extremely supportive and pushed me to keep trying but creating more content and told me to reach out to brands myself. A few days later I decided to make a post about a product I genuinely loved and was reached out by their team immediately for a collaboration opportunity. I said yes and worked with them for nearly 2 years, and during that same time a few other brands reached out to me as well for collaborations. Now, 2 years later, I’ve been blessed to have worked with several brands that I had dreamed of and am even featured on the websites of several beauty brands. Plus, I am able to share my love for the beauty industry and share everything I have learned over the years with people all around the world, using my creativity. During this time, I learned that It’s important to not give up on what you love and what you’re passionate about, because eventually you will achieve whatever it is that you want.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a few restaurants in Atlanta that I consider to be hidden gems and have unique experiences. Truett’s Luau is a Hawaiian twist on the popular fast-food chain, Chick-fil-A and has some menu items that you can’t find anywhere else, like the Pineapple Chicken Tacos and Sweet Potato Waffle Fries. There’s no better place to enjoy fine dining than The Sundial Restaurant, which offers a panoramic view of Atlanta’s skyline. Falafel Cafe is a true hidden gem that has the best Persian food in my opinion and is located in Marietta. Rooftop LOA brings the beach club vibes to Midtown and has a great selection of food and drinks, plus a rooftop pool! In terms of desserts, The Yard Milkshake Bar offers a lot of Instagram-worthy options for ice cream and milkshakes. Cafe Intermezzo has a great variety of cakes and pastries, as well as coffees and drinks.

As far as places to visit, I would definitely suggest the High Museum of Art, since they always have great exhibitions.Piedmont Park would also be a great place for a picnic, and would also explore Ponce City Market and Krog Street. We would also definitely visit popular tourist attractions like the Georgia Aquarium, Botanical Gardens, and Stone Mountain. It’ll definitely be a fully packed, but fun week!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I think my family deserves most of the credit for me being what I am today. Their unconditional support has helped me maintain a clear mindset, so I could focus on growing and doing what I truly love. I would often hear people make fun of me and make comments like, “Isn’t it embarrassing?” or “So when will you get a real job?”. When I graduated from college with my Bachelors in Marketing, I started hearing these comments more and at times these things were even said to my parents. My parents have never been the stereotypical South Asian parents who expect their children to become doctors, engineers, or lawyers. In fact, my parents have always encouraged me and my brother to do what we love, which has only made us more self-assured. My family has been extremely supportive of my journey of becoming a content creator from the beginning. On the days when I felt like I should give up since I didn’t have enough followers, likes, or comments, they would push me to keep trying, create more content, and try to reach out to brands. So I definitely think my parents are my biggest supporters and the reason behind all my success. I couldn’t have made it to this point without them. I’m thankful for them and all the positive people in my life who gave me the confidence boost I needed, and I’m also grateful to God for giving me the opportunity of working with brands I had dreamed of working with.
