We had the good fortune of connecting with Amelia Payne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amelia, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Moving to Atlanta to follow my dreams and leaving my family in Los Angeles.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist I feel my passion and dedication to perfecting everyday meals into extraordinary feasts for the eyes and tummies. I am so very proud of how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time, staying focused and putting in the hard work when life got me down. I am able to learn everyday and put into my craft! It was not easy, but staying mentally strong and keeping myself going to show my children and grandchildren that anything is possible. I want the world to know that we are a family run business and that anything is possible when you are surrounded by love, whether it be from yourself, strangers, or family.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to do in Atlanta, I don’t believe a week would be enough. Breakfast and brunch would be a daily thing at places like “Toast on Lenox” in buckhead or “Brunch Boys” in East Point.

Visiting iconic staples like the Coca Cola Factory, GA aquarium, and Civil Rights Museum would have to be top of the list. Being able to show them the belt line through midtown and the scenery that comes along with that!

Dinner and cocktails are a must at places like Little Alley Steakhouse, Annette’s, Yebo, and Barcelona are always fan favorites.

Maybe event catching a small concert at city winery depending on who is in town!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shout out my mother for her valuable life lessons, encouragement, and most importantly her recipes. I would also like to include my children for being there to support me through everything.
