We had the good fortune of connecting with Amelia Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amelia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I really wanted to start a business that was unique, fun, and something I could do while raising my 3 kids. I had been toying with the idea of growing and selling flowers since 2020 and then when my dad got his truck back from the shop this past year it just kinda clicked and I was like “I’m going to start a flower truck business!” It really just took off after that!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
This business has been a long time coming! I had been praying over the perfect business opportunity to show up that I could be passionate about while also raising my 3 kids. This idea started back in 2020 when I began learning more about flowers and growing/selling them. I knew that I wanted to do something with flowers but wasn’t quite sure what it would be. Then in 2023 my dad got his truck back from the shop and it really just clicked that this would be the perfect opportunity to start selling flowers out of the truck.
It didn’t take long to get the ball rolling with everything! Our first event was in Sept 2023 which was perfect! I almost waited until Spring 2024 to really get everything “perfect” but I’m so glad I didn’t! We just jumped right in and figured things out as we went and it snowballed from there. I had a lot to learn about the flower business but everyone I’ve met has been so kind to offer encouragement and advice. I hope I can do the same for anyone new to the business as well!
I think the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you can start before you “feel ready” and I think I was really craving a way to give back and be a part of our local community and this has become the perfect way to do that.
Our business is all about spreading happiness around town and putting a smile on peoples face! Flowers have a great way of doing that.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Marietta is such a special place to live! I have so many favorite local spots it’s hard to choose. So if I were to have a perfect day with a friend I would start by taking them to Tuesdays coffee for the best cappuccino, breakfast at Douceur De France, then I’d go get a workout in at CrossFit 11:24, Dinner I’d go to Mac’s or Two Birds! Then dessert from Pie Bar for sure!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my family and the support they have provided in getting me here! Emma’s Flower Truck is a 66’ Chevy truck that my dad bought when he was 15 years old for 100 dollars. It’s been in the family my whole life – we used to trick or treat in the back when I was young and in high school my dad taught me how to drive stick shift in the neighborhood.
Now, this business wouldn’t be possible without their love and support! The whole family loves and supports this business. So my shoutout goes to my husband for encouraging me to chase this dream, my parents for helping me with my 3 kids while I tend to all the flowers, my sister for being my business and social media guru. Plus, the local businesses in Marietta that have already been so amazing and excited for us to bring flowers to their door!
