We had the good fortune of connecting with Ambir McMillan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ambir, how does your business help the community?
Ah, this is a great question. The Truth? Eight out of 10 Black businesses failed within the first 18 months. One of the reasons is that they don’t have the resources for a solid foundation.

The Biz Bar was created for the underdogs. I had a hard time finding reliable resources when I started my business. Everything was a secret, even the things I paid for. I noticed how many of the resources for new and aspiring business owners are thrown together, and/or lack transformative value.

The high-end coaches seem to ONLY want to pull out the bells and whistles for the high-paying clients. I wanted to change that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The thing that I’m most proud of when it comes to my business, is the impact that I have on new, aspiring, and pivoting entrepreneurs.

And to be honest, it wasn’t easy. I struggled a lot with social expectations. There was (and still is ) pressure to come out of the gate and be great. I was afraid to look like a failure because I changed my occupation/business ventures so much. But I was the only person who counted my failures…..

Before I became the Brand Strategist and Curriculum Developer that I am today, I tried being a:
Avon Consultant
Mary Kay Consultant
Hair Vendor
Boutique Vendor
Life Insurance Agent
Natural body care specialist
Pharmacy Tech
Assistant Store Manager
Gift Shop Cashier + more. 😂

Now that I KNOW who I am, I understand that I was finding my way and I need to try things to see what I wanted to do and what I didn’t want to do. You can change your mind!

I am here today because I didn’t have the luxury of giving up and laying down. My dreams, or better yet, my purpose can’t be fulfilled by following the “traditional” path with an income ceiling. I have to create my own path.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ouuu. Ok. Now you’re making me think.

There’s no limit when it comes to my loved ones.
I would bring my bestie to the Four Seasons Hotel, get the presidential suite, and opt-in full room service and massages.

We would eat at all of the cajun and seafood restaurants because we LOVE crawfish.

Go shopping
Then we would fly to ATL for a day or two just to eat more, shop more and explore ATL and go back to New Orleans.

And anything she would want to do like bowling, smash houses, and movie premieres.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people contributed to my success! I have a village. But to name names: Mia McCloud, Michelby Whitehead, April Ford (My 1st paid client), Omiya Jackson, and countless other influences and network connections!
