We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
Growing up as a military brat meant constant change, I was born in Colorado, but home was never just one place. I spent a few years in Germany as a child and moved every three years, living in about six different states across the U.S. That experience shaped me, making me adaptable and comfortable with change, whether it was new places, people, or challenges.

My father’s military background instilled in me a strong sense of discipline and structure, while my DIY-loving mother sparked my creativity and encouraged me to explore new ideas. Their support and belief in me gave me the confidence to try new things, and combining those two influences discipline and creativity helped me become the entrepreneur I am today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I fell in love with lash extensions the moment I got them so much so that I became a true “LashFien”. What started as a part-time passion while working full-time in Corporate America quickly became something bigger. The structure of my 9-to-5 taught me valuable lessons about running a business, but after being laid off in 2018 and again in 2020, I knew it was God’s way of telling me to bet on myself.

Instead of seeing those setbacks as losses, I used them as a launchpad. I poured everything into perfecting my craft, lashing friends and family, and building a business that would stand the test of time. Over the years, I’ve mastered the art of natural, realistic lash extensions for the everyday woman and career professional.

Now, after a decade in this industry, I’m incredibly proud not just for sustaining myself in this business but for using my expertise to help other lash artists grow and build confidence in their own journeys, and helping women feel beautiful. The past 10 years have come with challenges, learning curves, and moments of doubt, but resilience and faith have kept me going.

LashFien isn’t just a name it’s a movement. The beauty industry is a billion-dollar space, and while 10 years may sound like a long time, trust me… I’m just getting started.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m definitely a homebody. I love entertaining and creating a cozy vibe at home but I never say no to a good brunch or steak! Some of my go-to spots in Metro Detroit are Rochester Brunch House, Jams, Revel Steakhouse or Cooper’s Hawk where the food is always top-tier. After brunch, there’s no shortage of things to do in the city. Depending on the mood, we might take a stroll downtown, visit the Detroit Institute of Arts, hit the mall for a little shopping, or even stop by a dispensary. Detroit has so much to offer, and I love exploring all the gems the city has to offer!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a HUGE shoutout to my LashFien community. Without your support, encouragement, and trust in my creativity, I wouldn’t have made it this far. I’ve had the privilege of servicing over 500 clients—many of whom have become friends, and some who feel like family. Being able to wake up every day and do what I love, surrounded by amazing people, is truly a blessing.

I also want to recognize my incredible friends Julisa (@Hairmistress_) and Crystal (@iamcrystalwhite). These two have been my biggest cheerleaders, constantly pushing me outside my comfort zone and reminding me of my worth—even when I don’t see it myself. Their support, encouragement, and belief in me have played such a big role in my growth, both personally and professionally.

Lastly, I have to thank God for every opportunity, every challenge that shaped me, and every lesson that kept me going. This journey hasn’t been easy, but with faith, resilience, and an amazing support system, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
