Hi Amari, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own travel agency stemmed from a combination of personal passion, market opportunity, and a desire to address a specific need within the travel industry.

First and foremost, I have always been a travel enthusiast and have a deep appreciation for exploring different cultures and destinations. I understand the transformative power of travel and the connections that can be formed when people from different backgrounds come together to share experiences. This personal passion served as the foundation for my business idea.

Secondly, I noticed a growing trend in the travel industry towards solo travel. Many people, for various reasons, were choosing to embark on adventures alone. However, I also realized that solo travel could sometimes be daunting or isolating, especially for those who prefer to share their experiences with like-minded individuals. This presented an opportunity to create a specialized service catering to solo travelers who wanted to join group trips.

With this in mind, I decided to establish The Travel Group Chat as a travel agency that specifically focuses on hosting and curating group trips for solo travelers. The idea was to create a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals could come together, form connections, and embark on memorable journeys. By curating group trips, we aim to provide a sense of community and companionship, enabling our clients to have enriching experiences while feeling safe and comfortable throughout their travels.

Additionally, I conducted market research to understand the demand and competitive landscape in the travel industry. Through my research, I identified a niche market of solo travelers who were seeking group experiences tailored to their needs. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area for a week, I would ensure they have a fantastic time exploring Atlanta. My suggested itinerary would includes some of the most fun, interesting, and exciting places in Atlanta to check out:

I would start by taking my friend to 26 & Thai, my favorite restaurant, to indulge in delicious Thai cuisine.

We would take a stroll along the Atlanta Beltline, my favorite place to hang out, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, public art installations, and scenic views.

We would visit Ponce City Market, a bustling mixed-use development filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. We would stop by Skyline Park, located on the rooftop of Ponce City Market. I love to enjoy the mini-golf, carnival games, and stunning views of Atlanta’s skyline while sipping on refreshing drinks.

I would also suggest we take a day trip to Stone Mountain Park, where I love to hike up the mountain for panoramic views

Although I do not consider myself a sports enthusiast, one of my favorite events to attend are home games at State Farm Arena, watching the Atlanta Hawks play..

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Absolutely, I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She played a significant role in introducing me to the world of travel and fostering my love for exploration from a young age. It was through the trips I took with her and my brother while growing up that my passion for travel truly took root.

My mother instilled in me a sense of wonder and curiosity about different cultures, traditions, and destinations. She encouraged us to embrace new experiences, try new foods, and immerse ourselves in the local customs wherever we went. Her enthusiasm and adventurous spirit were contagious, and I attribute much of my love for travel to her influence.

She not only nurtured my wanderlust but also taught me valuable life lessons through our travels. From navigating unfamiliar cities to adapting to different environments, my mother taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of embracing diversity.

I am truly grateful for the memories we created together and the impact she has had on shaping my perspective on the world. Without her guidance and support, I may not have pursued my dream of starting The Travel Group Chat and connecting solo travelers through group trips.
