We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Terrell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, I wanted to start a business with something that I enjoyed. My thought process was behind my business came from my youth, and making my grandmother and my mom proud. I grew up in a hair salon that my grandmother started about 50 years ago, for her and her daughters. My grandmother’s salon had the principles of come and get your service at a reasonable price, great customer service, and also come in and enjoy the family but also become apart of the family. My grandmother’s salon lasted so long because of these key principles.

So, when I started my lash business, my thought process was provide a quality service at a reason price but also creating a family like atmosphere for my clients, which I have accomplished.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my lash business about three years ago, I have always had a passion for anything pertaining to beauty. I just did not know what I wanted to do. I did not want to do hair, I tried make-up and I hated it. I knew that I enjoyed lashes and I love how lashes enhances the eyes and sets the entire face. Without lashes a girls face is literally nothing.

What sets me apart from others is I pride myself on great customer service skills. This includes me communicating with my clients on a regular, being flexible with my clients( I understand that things may come, babysitting issues, unexpected bills, car trouble, etc., Being honest with my clients with what they should expect when it comes to their lash sets, and also letting them know, hey take a break from lashes, your lashes needs a break for whatever reason. I also have great prices and still provide a great service. I provide a lash set for everyone’s pockets. Finances are up and down and I understand completely. What women does not want to look good? Even with different lash prices, I do not change the quality of my service or the lash experience for the client.

I am most proud of my growth and how I am willing to continue to learn more and more each and everyday. I get excited about bookings, when a new client books, I am like the happiest person in the world. I get excited about my regular clients booking as well, but turning a new client into regular is a different experience, that I can not explain.
I also get excited when I am done with a lash set and the clients are so happy and their favorite phrases is “I am back in the game” and “I am a whole new person” that makes me excited.

I am where I am at today professionally today because of believing in myself. I say this because in the being, I did not believe in myself, I can honestly say I never thought that my work was good enough, even thought I was gaining clientele, I was missing believing in myself. I was comparing my work to girls that were doing lashes for five plus years. No, it was not easy to overcome but I did overcome it. I overcame this issue by focusing more on my craft. I would stay up for hours 2 am,3 am researching lash tips. Falling asleep with lash videos on, taking more classes.

Lessons that I learned, do not compare your work to any other lash techs, you do not know how long they have been doing lashes, you do not know their struggles. If you do not believe in yourself, no one will. Success does not happen overnight for everyone, some people it takes 3 years, 5 years maybe 10 years but its okay just keep going. Ask questions, in the being I would never ask other lash techs questions, but now I do and it makes everything easy, a lot of lash techs are humble enough to answer other lash techs.

I am a humble, God fearing, single mother of one, from a small town called Albany, Ga. I am very passionate about lashes and the lash industry. When in comes to my brand, I take pride in providing a quality services for every female or make that comes and support my business. My brand is strong on providing great customer service, I will and do not stop until I know my clients are 100% happy. I also go over and beyond for clients or even students that I have been able to educate.

My story is authentic as well as I am. Anything pertaining to beauty, I owe it to my grandmother, she set up a way for daughters, so they would not have to work for anyone but also setting up a lucrative business that would some way reflect generation later. She knew what my purpose was and it is the same as her purpose and that’s enhancing women beauty and making them feel good about themselves. She would always tell me behind my mom’s back, to go into the beauty industry because she knew where my heart was at, side note I hated college. I owe everything to her and that is the reason I named my business after her. E.B’s House of Lashes. Her name was Eunice Bankston. I have inherited everything from her, business wise, from her class, the way she treated people( no matter what walks of life a person came from she treated them well), her customer service skills and being the epitome of a business women. Everything that I saw her put in her business, I put into mine because I have seen the results.
