We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Brock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I don’t think you ever really know. I think when you start to feel like “this isn’t working, this isn’t worth it”, the people around you and who support you will tell you, even without you saying anything. Your support system is crucial for your success. Always keep your faith in God and have the right people around you. Always be open to feedback and constructive criticism, because that may be the little change you need to make that helps everything fall into place for your business. Sometimes you can’t see what you need to do or change because you are in it, you’re too close, but a good support system can see the big picture and show you where there is a wrinkle.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing I’m most proud of is my business at the stage it is in right now. In the grand scheme of things, she’s still a baby, I call her my first child. I put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into her to have come this far and I’m proud to see just how far that is. I’m most excited to see what the future holds, we have goals and ideas but to see what direction we take it and where it lands is going to be great, because when we started you couldn’t tell me we would be here 5 years in. Nothing about this journey has been easy, I don’t say that to discourage but it is reality. We never have and still don’t have a big money backing to keep us going, all we have is faith, a couple of dollars and a whole lot of will to do really hard work. Every stage of my career from entry line cook to moving up in ranks, to leaving my job and going full time with my business has been hard, in their own way but I’ve learned so much from each stage that I wouldn’t have if the journey was easy, so I’m grateful for the hard times because it brought me wisdom I can use forever.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If you’re in Atlanta you have to go to brunch of course, my favorite brunch spot is actually outside the city, It’s Called Flavor Rich, in Buford, they are in the process of opening their second location Downtown. You have to go to the Georgia Aquarium. I would have to take them to a music festival at Piedmont Park. Then go to Joystick Gamebar, or Victory Sandwich Bar. We would have to go to the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Definitely would have to go to the Chattahoochee Food Works, and see our friends at Mushi Ni, and then go to Top Golf. And of course we HAVE to go see Atlanta United, the Hawks, or the Falcons play, And then hibernate from being social for a week lol.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God. And my family and close friends immediately after. We have been blessed to run into some really amazing people that we wouldn’t have met if it wasn’t for a divine set up. From our church family to our blood family to friends turned family, to business that were next to us that helped us and encouraged us during the pandemic, who are now really good friends, we wouldn’t have made it this far. These people helped us start, were our first customers and clients, gave us an extra push or shove lol when we needed it and without God and him putting these people in our lives M&M wouldn’t be here.
