We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Barrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I am a huge believer in authenticity! Being genuine and true to yourself (at least in my experience) has been the best leader in my success. Authenticity brings trust, and building trust is part of my job! If you don’t trust me, then you won’t feel comfortable in your photos. Providing genuine experiences and being my authentic self has given me not only happy clients, but true friendships as well!

What should our readers know about your business?
Starting this business was a huge leap of faith! Any other small business owner knows how vulnerable you feel starting out, but that is where the magic happens! That sounds cliche, but truly, vulnerability brings out some of your biggest strengths. You have to trust in yourself, learn it’s okay to ask for help, lean on others (all things us Enneagram 8’s don’t like). My biggest takeaway is that it is okay to fail and step out of your comfort zone because that brings growth and only makes you stronger.

I am all about my clients and their experience! My job is to serve you in the best way possible and make sure you are comfortable during your photo session; to the point where you may forget I’m even there. Every session tells a story and I will do my best to tell your story as authentically as possible. This may be a family about to have their first baby, a couple getting engaged, another small business owner trying to grow themselves; whatever the story, I am here to tell it in the form of a photograph that will last a lifetime. My absolute favorite photos are candids. Sure posing photos are nice, but the best photos show your true self and genuine emotion. That is what my favorite part about this job is. I am seeing people grow, love, learn, and I get to help you remember that.

A few things about me! I am a wife to an amazing husband, dog mama to a crazy german shepherd, have too many house plants to count, love Jesus with all my heart, and cookies are my love language! I love getting to meet new people and explore, but I also love to cuddle up with a good book and binge watch New Girl.

I love being a photographer and capturing special moments with people and their loved ones. I would not be where I am today without my amazing support system and all of my clients!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many different things to do in ATL it is hard to choose! I am all about equal adventure, equal relaxation ;). We would most definitely go to Ponce City Market, IKEA (duh), Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Beltline, but then a neat spa and local book store. For food we would go to Barcelona Wine Bar and Fellini’s pizza. We would, of course, make time to do a mini photo session in one of the cool places we visit!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to a few different people! First, I would not be where I am today without God. His love and guidance has helped lead me to where I am today. Without that, I wouldn’t have this business. A colleague and now great friend of mine, Elizabeth Stampfli, started her photography business around the same time. We have learned alongside one another, leaned on one another in hardships, and have celebrated one another on our successes! Finally, my amazing clients (turned friends) who refer me to others have also helped me get to where I am today. Referrals are so important! I am so grateful for all of the clients and friends cheering me on and helping me grow!
