We had the good fortune of connecting with Amadi (Abundance) Agbomah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amadi (Abundance), what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business in the beginning years of my college education, I was awakened to healthier eating habits by researching and learning more about Afro health. I went alkaline vegan to help heal generational health trauma and my family, eating healthier is about a lifestyle choice that fosters a healthy spirit. Once I understood that eating healthy doesn’t have to diminish cultural authenticity, in taste and flavor, I combined my national background (Nigerian) with American Southern Soul Food.

I started to sell plates at my college from my dorm, students loved it, once I graduated I was my own boss.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a food artist, an African vegan cook, is unheard of back home in Nigeria. It took me years to learn, being a student of life, everyday, I learn from each plate, each dessert, and each client I interact with.

I started my pursuit of my passions around 19, learning the ropes by myself, nothing came easy due to my mindset. As time went by, I grew wiser and richer with experience, I learned better customer service skills, I learned to check my emotions at the door, and honor being a leader in my community.

I also learned, if I plan on opening a food truck or restaurant, get used to Twitter comments now and brush off adversity, because ease comes with time

The world will know me and my brand as bringing joy to many, uplifting renewal of the soul through inner transformation, and as a giving, successful, productive, and prosperous person & food experience

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie so I’d say def checkout some vegan food spots in the city. Here’s some listed by borough below

Manhattan
Massawa
African vegan kitchen

Brooklyn
Sol sips
Screamers pizza
Greedi vegan
Two boots

Queens

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off shoutouts to God In me, for making me rich in every way, to uphold and pass on the wealth and regality of my African and Native lineage. Shoutouts to my ancestors for lifting me up, and teaching me sacred means to bring joy to my community, and for showing me the truth in honoring healing and abundance.

Thank you to my supporters, clients, and haters for supporting, watching, and seeing my light shine authentically and watching as I beam up.
