We had the good fortune of connecting with Alysę Nicholę and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alysę, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I had always been an artsy kid. I love to entertain by whatever means necessary. I dabbled in all the artsy and performance activities like sculpting, painting, sports, acting, musicals. It was just something about expressing my myself and emotions without talking about it. It’s funny because I used to tell people all the time “I’m going to be famous” with the response of “by doing what?” and my reply would “I don’t know I just will be”. I was a singer first before I explored other mediums of art but I got really involved in basketball for a long period of time which meant I wasn’t able to practice as much until I graduated from high school and came back to musical roots which resulted in me becoming Alysę Nicholę.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I use music as a way to express what moods I am currently in and to say what others can’t or wont’t say. I use music to amplify my voice and to be a role model for others to look up to now or someday in the future. I am proud of myself for being successful independently and having accomplished milestones on music videos and streaming numbers. It sure was not easy. A lot out of pocket money and clocking in to raise funding to promote my music. I am proud of my team for pushing me and their contribution to my success. We still have lots more to do but the results we’re getting now…it shouldn’t be long before something magical happens. I have learned so much on my journey and although mistakes are bound to be made I enjoy learning how to correct my errors and do better. I am an artist who values quality rather than quantity. Some say to put out as much as you can, but I like to put out what is great and what will last centuries.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is a city of creatives and history. I would definitely suggest to visit the Martin Luther King House. It’s eye opening and so fulfilling to walk through a piece of history. Have to attend a concert or festival on the visit, Atlanta is filled with music. Atlanta is also famous for the clubs out here and Magic city is probably the most popular one you heard of but mine is the Peacock on Auburn Ave because they play Caribbean music and it’s always a vibe when you go inside. Next to it is a restaurant called Mangos and its delicious food. They have oxtail, rice and beans, fry fish, etc. It’s so good. I would take them to see my school, Georgia State, of course and see all of the AUC. Finally, we would ride through Midtown up to maybe Lenox or Cumberland to Shop for some cute clothes before they have to return home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my team, family, Mom, dad, grandma, mentors, and friends. Some people I want to name are my producer/lover Chase A Million. You are the reason I have been able to thrive in this industry. With your help I wouldn’t have been able advance as quick as I have in this industry and I am so thankful for you as my teammate in music and in life. I want to shout out the Dabuketlist, my Aunt Kiah and Uncle Jason for their contribution to my development, Georgia State for my business education and anyone else that has met me so far on this Musical Journey. Oh can’t forget my music family, Y.O The Label in New York, I love you guys.
